The results after a decade show that learning and following Uncle Ho is no longer just a slogan or a formal movement, but has become a practical action, contributing to nurturing personality and building a humane, creative and progressive educational environment.
Awakening self-motivation
An outstanding result at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education is the work of developing the Party among students. This is not only a political task, but also a solution to foster a generation of young intellectuals with courage, ideals, and social responsibility. Every year, the school organizes many classes to foster awareness of the Party for outstanding union members. As of August 2025, the school has introduced 1,661 outstanding union members to participate in the Party sympathy class, of which 418 students were admitted to the Party.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc An - Chairman of the Vietnam Education Trade Union said that, as an organization representing the legal and legitimate rights and interests of teachers and workers in the industry, the Education Trade Union always considers studying and following Uncle Ho as a key task.
What is important is that this movement does not stop at slogans or superficial activities, but goes into depth, becoming a self-motivating force, motivating each individual and collective to transform awareness into action.
Since Directive 05 was implemented, the Union has determined that, for the movement to truly spread, learning and following Uncle Ho must come from the inner needs of each person. Therefore, the Union focuses on arousing personal motivation, avoiding constraints, coercion or formality. Instead of focusing on targets or chasing after achievements, the goal is to create inspiration and encouragement.
This flexible approach helps the movement become closer, natural and practical. Many teachers clearly feel the companionship and encouragement from the union organization, thereby proactively innovating and being creative in teaching and training themselves. This contributes to improving the quality of comprehensive education, while building a friendly and humane school environment.
Previously, learning and following Uncle Ho in many schools was scattered, mainly focusing on emulation, signing commitments, hanging slogans, writing reports... but sometimes lacking practical connection, not creating internal motivation for staff, teachers and students. Currently, that limitation has been overcome with new and diverse forms. The Union organizes many topics, competitions, and communication programs related to the daily life and work of teachers.
Typical is the movement “Dedicated and Creative Teachers”, which encourages teachers to come up with innovative initiatives for curriculum and textbooks. The contest “Teachers in My Eyes” brings vivid perspectives from students, helping teachers to self-reflect, self-train and perfect their own image. The program “Our Teachers Have Changed” opens up a space for dialogue, sharing experiences and solving difficulties in pedagogical behavior, especially in the context of educational innovation.
In addition, many models such as seminars, soft skills training, and thematic activities are also integrated into professional activities. The assessment and reward methods are innovated in the direction of focusing on real evidence and recognizing efforts instead of records and documents. Thanks to that, the movement of learning and following Uncle Ho is increasingly lively, close and practical.
A notable point is that the propaganda work has also been strongly innovated. If the communication method was previously rigid, now the union has integrated the content of studying and following Uncle Ho into professional activities, extracurricular activities, and emulation movements. Many exemplary teachers have been spread through newspapers, radio, and television, affirming the image of teachers as symbols of determination, creativity, and dedication, thereby receiving consensus and support from society.

Innovation through training programs
At the university level, 10 years of implementing Directive 05 have created many clear changes in both awareness and action. Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle is not only a political task, but also a key solution to comprehensively train students.
At the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), this spirit is materialized in many creative ways, linking theory with practice. The school identifies this as a continuous task, systematically implementing it, avoiding formality, aiming to turn studying and following Uncle Ho into the personal needs of each staff member, lecturer and student.
Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Deputy Director in charge of UEH, said: "With the educational philosophy of pioneering academics, serving society, promoting innovation and sustainable action, UEH always focuses on comprehensive training for students to become global citizens, while preserving traditional cultural identity and patriotism."
It is noteworthy that UEH does not separate education on revolutionary ideals, ethics, and lifestyle from the main curriculum. Ho Chi Minh's ideology is vividly integrated into political subjects such as Ho Chi Minh's ideology and History of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
The school applies modern teaching methods: storytelling, showing documentaries, asking students to relate to themselves, or learning through projects (project-based learning). This way of learning helps students not only acquire knowledge, but also develop a sense of social responsibility and a desire to contribute.

If training innovation is the foundation, then movements are the environment to nurture and spread that spirit. UEH organizes many academic and practical playgrounds for students to experience. The Olympic competition on Marxist-Leninist sciences and Ho Chi Minh Thought has been maintained for 25 years, becoming a prestigious brand, attracting thousands of students. The competition not only tests knowledge, but is also linked to current issues, helping political theory to be close and lively.
In addition, the “Ho Chi Minh Cultural Space” initiative at UEH combines real and digital spaces, becoming a unique highlight. Students can visit the 3D museum, view photo exhibitions, read books or participate in online activities. This is a new approach, helping to bring Ho Chi Minh’s ideology closer to young people, in line with the learning trend of the digital age.

Innovation from digital transformation
In the context of strong digital transformation, many universities in Ho Chi Minh City have applied modern technology to make studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style more attractive.
At UEH, a series of digital media products such as infographics, short videos, podcasts, especially the “UEH Youth Voices” series have been deployed. With tens of thousands of views and shares on Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube, these products show that when the content is designed creatively and closely, Ho Chi Minh’s thoughts can reach young people naturally.
Equally prominent, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE) is a pioneer in digitalizing political and ideological education. The school operates synchronous online platforms: Website, Facebook, YouTube, SPTV, YouthHCMUE application and interactive Chatbot system.
This is both an information channel and a dialogue space where students can grasp policies and directly participate in learning and training activities. Notably, 100% of faculties, youth unions, associations, and classes at HCMUE have their own community pages, connecting students by major and course. Thanks to that, a wide-ranging network is formed, promoting collective strength.
The effectiveness of the digital model at HCMUE is demonstrated through impressive numbers: More than 60 political programs and events were livestreamed, attracting over 100,000 views and over 300,000 accesses; 20 talk shows and online topics reached over 60,000 views; 30 propaganda videos on SPTV recorded over 100,000 views. These numbers show the important role of digital technology in bringing political and ideological education closer to students.
At the Conference "Evaluating the results of dissemination, propaganda, guidance on studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style in educational institutions", Mr. Hoang Duc Minh - Head of the Department of Students (Ministry of Education and Training) said that immediately after Directive 05 was issued, the Ministry of Education and Training disseminated the content, issued resolutions and many guiding documents. Departments of Education and Training, universities and vocational training institutions across the country have actively implemented it, achieving many outstanding results.
Studying and following Uncle Ho is closely linked to the major movements and campaigns of the industry. Notable are the movements "Each teacher is a model of morality, self-study and creativity" or the emulation movement "Building friendly schools, active students". These activities contribute to raising the awareness of self-cultivation and training of cadres and teachers, while at the same time fostering the personality, ideals and lifestyle of students.
According to Mr. Minh, in the context of deep international integration and rapid development of science and technology, political, ideological and ethical education in schools is increasingly of fundamental significance. "It can be affirmed that studying and following Uncle Ho has created positive values, contributing to nurturing the personality, ideals, ethics and lifestyle of the young generation," the Head of the Department of Students emphasized.
The Education sector has directed educational institutions to integrate learning content and follow Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle into all levels of education and training. For preschool and general education, the principle is not to make the program heavier, but to encourage teachers to integrate flexibly and appropriately for the age.
For universities and vocational education, the Ministry of Education and Training added a chapter on "Students studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology and moral example" to the Ho Chi Minh Ideology curriculum for students not majoring in Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Ideology.
