Some Russians (10%) would be willing to listen to Russian President Vladimir Putin if he said that alien life exists, according to a poll conducted by Rambler&Co and seen by state news agency TASS.

About 79% of 116,000 Russians surveyed said they believe aliens exist, the survey said.

About 33% of Russians are sure that there is intelligent life on other planets, and 27% are attracted to the idea itself.

Some people (10%) believe that the government is covering up the truth about UFOs, another 9% believe that aliens have lived among us on Earth. Another 21% of respondents deny the existence of extraterrestrial life.

Nearly half of the people who took part in this interesting survey, 49%, said they would need to see aliens with their own eyes before saying they are real.

"One in 10 people would be willing to admit that UFOs are real if the Head of State (President Putin) confirmed this, 6% would trust official media, 3% would trust their friends," the survey showed.

But 20% trust only the research of famous scientists . Another 12% of Russians would be satisfied with video clips on this topic.

Russians have different views on the attitude of aliens towards Earthlings.

About 24% believe that aliens are hostile, while 23% believe that aliens want to be friendly. But more than half (53%) are certain that the existence of humans would be a big shock to aliens, and vice versa.

Two-thirds of respondents believe that if aliens were real, they would not resemble humans, both in appearance and technology.

Whether extraterrestrial life exists has been a fierce debate among scientists for decades.

In other countries around the world , although some people believe that the government is hiding the existence of alien life from humanity, there is still a public effort underway to try to search for intelligent life in the universe.

Much of the scientific effort focuses on searching for any biological life by observing planets for simple signs of life or signs that life may exist on the surface.

But there are some stations that specialize in searching for intelligent life by trying to intercept radio waves.

In 2016, a $100 million project called Breakthrough Listen was launched, with much of the funding going toward thousands of hours of dedicated telescope use.

It is said to be the most comprehensive search for alien communications to date, and is looking for radio waves and lasers that only intelligent life could emit.
