(Dan Tri) - Regarding the "wrongful failure" and "wrongful passing" cases, the Ministry of Education and Training determined that there were 16 schools with errors, which involved more than 1,000 candidates but did not affect their passing or failing.

The information was released this morning (September 18), at the 2025 Higher Education Conference. The error was identified from the way schools entered data into the system.

According to the explanation of Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son this morning, the reason for this situation is because there are some operations that must be done by machine but are slow, so many schools have switched to manual editing.

"However, this did not affect the candidates' passing or failing. Immediately afterwards, the Ministry of Education and Training proactively supported the schools and the students' problems were resolved," said the Minister.

As Dan Tri reported earlier, this year’s university entrance exam recorded a series of errors that led to many candidates passing but failing, and failing but passing. The incidents occurred at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City Bank, Foreign Trade, Finance – Marketing and several schools in the North.

A series of candidates at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education reported to Dan Tri newspaper that although they exceeded the admission score, they still had to run around everywhere to fill out applications to resolve "system errors".

In just one afternoon, nearly 30 candidates sent information to Dan Tri, hoping for support to find justice.

Families and candidates are worried as if sitting on a bed of fire, if they do not receive accurate results to confirm admission to lower choices, the university door this year will be closed to them.

These are the candidates who happily announced to their families, relatives, friends, and neighbors: "I passed the university entrance exam". However, only a few days later, when the Ministry of Education and Training asked candidates to confirm their admission, many were "shocked" with the words: "Failed".

Not only in the South, many universities in Hanoi also have this situation.

With the technical error that caused candidates to "fail" and "pass" in this year's admissions at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, the school must coordinate with other universities to resolve issues related to errors in the first round of admissions results.

There are about 64 universities that have agreed to accept candidates who do not meet the standard scores but are on the admission list to Ho Chi Minh City University of Education.

In cases where candidates are eligible to be admitted to the school but are not on the admission list, the school has contacted them to carry out admission procedures according to regulations.

At the University of Finance and Marketing, 75 candidates who passed or failed or vice versa due to errors in the process of converting scores from English certificates have been resolved.

This year, the high school graduation exam is held with subjects for both students studying the 2018 general education program and students studying under the new exam plan.

At the same time, the Ministry of Education and Training continues to organize exams for students studying under the 2006 general education program who have not graduated or need to retake the exam for university admission.

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, by 2025, the entire process will be done completely online, from registration, fee payment, virtual filtering and admission confirmation, with no errors from the general system.

As for the Northern group (chaired by Hanoi University of Science and Technology), which organized a general admission exam for 65 training institutions, the initial admission exam software was overloaded due to the large amount of calculations. The Ministry of Education and Training requested to extend the nationwide virtual filtering time by 2 more days but still ensure the announcement of admission exam results on schedule (August 22).

The online registration system is open from August 25 to September 2 (3 days longer than planned).

"The problems of organizing early admission and dividing admission quotas between methods and admission combinations in previous years have been basically overcome.

The entire admission process is transparent, there is no longer an unreasonable difference in benchmark scores between methods and admission combinations for the same major and school," the Ministry of Education and Training assessed.
