Master Nguyen Ngoc Trung, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, said that in 2026, the school plans to maintain the same admission method as in 2025. Specifically, the school's three main admission methods include: Direct admission and priority admission for specialized students; High school graduation exam scores; Combined admission with entrance exams. In which, combined admission includes specialized competency assessment scores and academic records; High school graduation exam scores or specialized competency assessment scores with aptitude test scores.

"Any changes, if any, will be announced after the Ministry of Education and Training issues the 2026 enrollment regulations," Mr. Trung added.

Regarding the admission of candidates who are specialized students, in 2025 the school will consider candidates who have graduated from high schools according to the list prescribed by the school, have a good or higher academic ranking in grade 12 and meet one of the following conditions in order of priority for the correct major or the major in which the candidate participates in the national excellent student team or the national science and technology competition team; won first, second, or third prize in the excellent student competition organized by the provincial level or higher; Candidates have a level 4 foreign language certificate according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework for Vietnam or higher or equivalent (applicable to foreign language majors according to the list of related majors); have good academic performance in grade 10 and 11.

In the combined admission method of examination, the specialized competency assessment test score is still used in combination with the academic transcript score in the same method.

Thus, from 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will not use the independent admission method based on high school transcripts, but high school transcript scores will still be used as the basis for admission for some admission methods and areas.

The format of the specialized assessment test is expected to remain unchanged.

In 2026, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will continue to organize a specialized competency assessment exam for admission. Master Nguyen Ngoc Trung said that the basic exam will remain stable compared to 2025. In particular, the number of subjects, exam format and admission method are expected to remain unchanged. However, the number of exam sessions and exam locations may increase. Specifically, the school is likely to organize exams in Can Tho, Long An , Gia Lai, Da Nang, Hue, Dak Lak and Ho Chi Minh City.

"The number of exam sessions in some locations may increase. For example, last year Da Nang only held one session, but this year it may hold three sessions to meet the needs of candidates," said Mr. Trung.

Accordingly, the 2026 Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's specialized competency assessment exam includes 6 subjects: math, physics, chemistry, biology, literature, and English. When applying to the school, candidates only need to take 1 subject (score coefficient 2) depending on the combination and major; the remaining 2 subjects in the combination use the transcript score.

In 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education will enroll students according to 2 groups of admission methods: admission by examination and combined examination. In which, the admission method group includes: Priority admission according to the admission regulations and admission of candidates who are specialized class students; Admission using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam. The combined admission and examination group includes: admission using high school study results combined with specialized competency assessment test; Admission using the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam combined with aptitude subject exam; Admission using the results of the specialized competency assessment test combined with aptitude subject exam.

In 2025, the benchmark score of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education based on the results of the high school graduation exam ranges from 19 to 29.38 points. Based on the score of the specialized competency assessment exam organized by the school, the benchmark score ranges from 17.13 to 28.16 points.
