The project is invested by the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri with a total investment of 45 billion VND, including: ODA non-refundable aid from the Italian Government of 36.574 billion VND; counterpart capital from the local budget of 8.426 billion VND. Implementation period is 2024 - 2026, in Gio Linh and Vinh Linh districts.
The project aims to contribute to the construction of a complete system for collecting, classifying and treating solid waste in the northern region of Quang Tri province, ensuring that the reuse and recycling rate of domestic solid waste reaches over 65%.
The rate of solid waste reused and recycled for energy recovery or fertilizer production is over 85%. Thereby, raising people's awareness of waste classification and solid waste treatment and reuse to minimize the volume of domestic solid waste that needs to be treated by landfilling, burning, etc.
Specifically, collecting, transporting, processing, and recycling household waste with a capacity of about 100 tons of waste/day and night of the entire Vinh Linh district by 2030, with a vision to 2045. In particular, focusing on reusing easily decomposable organic solid waste for composting; hard-to-decompose plastic waste is burned and buried hygienically, minimizing greenhouse gas emissions, creating an environmental landscape towards sustainable socio-economic development of localities.
The project consists of 2 components: Component 1 - improving waste classification skills at source. Building a model and implementing waste classification at source in Gio Linh and Vinh Linh districts: organizing training to raise awareness of environmental protection, waste classification and treatment techniques; supporting local means, tools and equipment for collection, transportation and treatment of solid waste.
Component 2 - construction and upgrading items, construction of waste treatment area with items: waste sorting workshop, bio-fertilizer production workshop and auxiliary items; installation of domestic solid waste incinerator, capacity of 1,500 kg/h; construction of domestic waste landfill; office; power supply system; lightning protection; water supply and drainage system; internal traffic roads, yard, fence, weighing station and other auxiliary items.
