The event was attended by leaders of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association, the National Assembly Solidarity Group with Vietnam, the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association, veterans and a large number of students in the capital Minsk. Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Trung, Embassy staff, the Executive Board of the Vietnamese Association and representatives of the Vietnamese community attended the ceremony.
In her welcome speech, President of the Belarusian Association for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Other Countries, Ms. Nina Semenovna Ivanova, highlighted the historical significance and great value to international friends of the National Day of September 2, which marked the birth of an independent Vietnam. Emphasizing the importance of the Belarus-Vietnam strategic partnership and cooperation, she also congratulated the achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved in the cause of national defense and development.
President of the Belarus-Vietnam Friendship Association Nikolai Borisevich emphasized that the friendship and historical ties between the two peoples are being continuously nurtured and actively developed by the two countries' senior leaders. He affirmed that Belarus has been, is and will always be a friend of Vietnam.
Recalling the memories of Vietnam’s struggle for independence, in which Belarusians participated, National Assembly deputies and veterans emphasized that Belarus and Vietnam have a strong friendship, tested by decades of history. Many students listened with deep interest in the history of Vietnam’s development, as well as the Belarus-Vietnam friendship.

Speaking at the event, Vietnamese Ambassador to Belarus Nguyen Van Trung highlighted the arduous, but glorious and proud historical journey of the Vietnamese people on the path to independence and national reunification, emphasizing the indomitable will, patriotism and aspiration for peace and prosperity of our people.
The Ambassador also expressed his gratitude for the support of international friends, including the important contributions of Belarusian friends. On that basis, the Ambassador expressed his belief that the Vietnam-Belarus relationship will continue to grow, contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world .

At the ceremony, songs and poems from Belarus and Vietnam were performed along with national dances. In particular, the audience warmly welcomed the song “Vietnam Unification”, composed by Belarus specifically for Vietnam, performed by the Polifonica Choir and the Vietnamese conical hat dance performed by the female art troupe of the Vietnamese community in Belarus to the melody of the song “Around Vietnam”.
During the exchange after the ceremony, many Belarusian veterans brought many valuable souvenirs and documents to share and introduce to the young people attending, to continue the tradition of solidarity and friendship between the people of the two countries.
Within the framework of activities celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day in the Republic of Belarus, on September 1, the Vietnamese Embassy in Belarus organized a meeting with the Vietnamese community and will hold an official diplomatic reception on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day on September 11.
