80 years of Vietnam News Agency: Symbol of international cooperation

Relations between the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) and Russia's TASS news agency were established in the 1950s. The first cooperation agreement signed in 1958 marked the strong relationship between the two countries.

This year, Vietnam celebrates its 80th National Day (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and VNA also celebrates its 80th anniversary of accompanying the country as the national news agency (September 15, 1945 - September 15, 2025).

On the eve of this important event, a VNA correspondent in the Russian Federation interviewed TASS Director General Andrei Olegovych Kondrashov about the cooperation and coordination of actions between the two news agencies and the most important milestones in the cooperation journey, as well as the significance of cooperation for the friendly relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.

TASS Director General Kondrashov said the cooperation between TASS and VNA is a typical example of an effective partnership based on mutual respect and professionalism.

Over the years, the two news agencies have created a solid bridge of information exchange for the cause of peace , building mutual understanding and promoting cultural exchange between the two peoples.

The two sides had another opportunity to affirm that last June, when VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang, at the invitation of TASS, attended a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and leaders of the world's leading news agencies.

In an interview with VNA Director General Vu Viet Trang about Vietnam-Russia relations, the Russian leader emphasized that the traditional friendship between the two countries has always been faithful and unchanged over the years.

In the context of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Vietnam that is constantly developing in the new period, the relationship between TASS and VNA is of special importance, continuing to be consolidated and actively developed in all fields, both bilaterally and at regional and international information forums.

TASS and VNA continue to effectively support each other in fulfilling their missions as the leading news agencies of Russia and Vietnam.

As TASS Director General, Mr. Kondrashov firmly asserted that relations with VNA are one of the most typical examples of success and effectiveness in cooperation with foreign partners of TASS.

One of the most memorable milestones in the cooperation between TASS and VNA is the joint photo exhibitions, which capture heroic moments in the history of the two countries. These photo exhibitions have resonated widely with the public, were highly appreciated by the leaders of the two countries and have become a symbol of the two peoples' respect for the past.

Such initiatives not only strengthen professional relationships but also inspire the younger generation of journalists to continue the best traditions.

Over the years, TASS and VNA have implemented a program of exchanging reporters and editors, during which the two sides have had the opportunity to learn about modern journalism and the work of key departments in the two agencies, as well as organize visits and working sessions to important government agencies, helping to deepen their understanding of the history and culture of Russia and Vietnam.

TASS and VNA are also actively cooperating within the framework of the largest news associations. The TASS Director General thanked VNA for supporting and electing TASS as Chairman of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA).

He stressed his belief that as a member of the OANA Executive Board, VNA will continue to make valuable contributions to the organization's development and TASS will always support the initiatives of Vietnamese friends.

TASS Director General Kondrashov affirmed that this is just a part of the rich history of cooperation between the two news agencies, which he compared to a giant tree - which will continue to grow, continue to be nourished by common values and aspirations.

He believes that new achievements await both news agencies ahead and that these achievements will increasingly illuminate the path of Vietnam-Russia friendship./.
