The three survivors included the Chinese driver who was on duty at the time of the accident and two Vietnamese citizens. Jingxi authorities said they had informed the Vietnamese consulate in Nanning.
Authorities in Jingxi are investigating the three survivors, suspecting the incident is related to human trafficking in the border area.
The accident occurred on the morning of May 19 on the road through Tu Minh village, Tinh Tay city, about 5-6 km from the border, when a Toyota Highlander car plunged off a cliff on a mountain road. This is a 7-seat car but was carrying twice the number of people allowed.
