ABBANK builds boarding houses for children in mountainous areas from creative fundraising initiatives

NDO - An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) officially inaugurated a boarding house and auxiliary facilities for H'Mong and Laha ethnic students at Chieng An Primary and Secondary School, Muong La district, Son La province.

This is a positive result from a special initiative of ABBANK called "Journey of a Thousand Miles - Nurturing Thousands of Dreams". The initiative calls on ABBANK staff to contribute to charity funds for the community by building a habit of exercising , improving the health of themselves and their families.

Officially launched in September 2024, after just over three months of implementation, the campaign "Journey of a Thousand Miles - Nurturing Thousands of Dreams" has successfully completed its dual goals: successfully raising 1 billion VND, bringing sustainable practical values ​​to the community, while promoting a positive corporate culture, creating a professional, healthy and cohesive working environment.

The campaign attracted continuous participation and strong spread of nearly 1,300 ABBANK staff nationwide with nearly 190,000km conquered and more than 23,000 hours of practice recorded through jogging, swimming, and cycling activities.

“Journey of a Thousand Miles - Nurturing a Thousand Dreams” is the first triathlon event organized by ABBANK to inspire a series of actions to overcome the limits of its staff and join hands to raise funds to build schools for children in mountainous areas.

Immediately after completing the fundraising goal, ABBANK quickly coordinated with the Vietnam Children's Fund and the Ministry of Health to start construction of boarding houses and auxiliary works for Nong Hoi Duoi School, Chieng An Primary and Secondary School, Muong La District, Son La Province. At the end of April 2025, the project was completed and officially inaugurated and put into use, helping nearly 200 students have a warmer, safer, more hygienic and comfortable place to live.

Sharing about the bank's sustainable development strategy and community service goals, Mr. Pham Duy Hieu, General Director of ABBANK said: ABBANK always encourages its employees to continuously learn, practice, strive to explore their own limits, play hard, work hard and serve wholeheartedly.

“This campaign is a vivid demonstration of all the above values, contributing to bringing positive and sustainable impacts in society as well as in ABBANK's own working environment,” Mr. Hieu affirmed.

At the groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony, a total of 50 gifts including backpacks, uniforms and cash scholarships were presented by ABBANK to poor students who have overcome difficulties. In addition, ABBANK also presented a water purifier to the school, helping teachers and students have more clean water, contributing to protecting their health so that they can continue teaching, studying and practicing. These meaningful gifts were contributed by family, friends and relatives of ABBANK staff when they learned about the program.

Nong Hoi Duoi School, Chieng An Primary and Secondary School has a large number of students from ethnic minorities, with difficult economic circumstances. Many students have to stay at school because their homes are far away, the road to school is very dangerous and difficult, especially in the rainy season. For many years, the school's facilities have been lacking and degraded, the students lack housing and basic learning equipment.

By April 2025, the boarding house and auxiliary facilities were completed and officially inaugurated, ready to welcome students to live and work.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dam, Principal of Chieng An Primary and Secondary School, expressed: The support from ABBANK is a meaningful and practical gift, not only helping to improve learning and living conditions but also showing sharing and love for students in remote and disadvantaged areas. The new boarding house and auxiliary facilities will contribute to improving the quality of student care and education, helping them feel secure in studying and practicing in a better environment.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hien, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Children's Fund, also emphasized that the care, protection and education of children, including the construction of key projects such as schools and boarding houses, is one of the top priorities of the Fund, and acknowledged the contributions and support that ABBANK has provided.

“We deeply appreciate the efforts and dedication of the Board of Directors as well as the entire staff of ABBANK in this meaningful activity for children. We hope that the project will become a safe, clean, and warm common home - a place where students can rest, study, and play, helping them have better living and studying conditions,” Ms. Hien shared.
