On the morning of April 25, in Hanoi, the Department of Science and Technology coordinated with the National Office of Intellectual Property to organize the event "Responding to World Intellectual Property Day 2025".
This year, World Intellectual Property Day 2025 is themed “Intellectual Property and Music – Feel the Beat of IP”. It is an opportunity to celebrate the contributions of creators, inventors and entrepreneurs who push the boundaries of creativity and inspire an innovative future.
Mr. Luu Hoang Long - Director of the Department of Intellectual Property.
At the ceremony, Mr. Luu Hoang Long - Director of the Department of Intellectual Property - said: "In the current digital age and the strong development of artificial intelligence (AI), musical products, from handwritten music to modern arrangements on digital platforms, can be easily copied and illegally exploited, so it is necessary to have an effective and appropriate intellectual property system to prevent it.
"We have been actively coordinating with relevant agencies, ministries and sectors to organize programs to raise awareness of intellectual property, helping the community better understand their rights and obligations in protecting intellectual property. In the coming time, we will continue to improve mechanisms and policies; promoteeducation and dissemination of intellectual property knowledge in schools, research institutes and businesses; support the protection and commercialization of intellectual property," Mr. Long affirmed.
Director of the Intellectual Property Department Luu Hoang Long cited that according to WIPO and Brand Finance, leading corporations such as Apple, Microsoft, and Nvidia are increasingly growing with a value of trillions of USD, all based on intellectual property, from patents, trademarks, to trade secrets and software... when secured by intellectual property tools, they will be a source of endless added value.
This is clear evidence that, in the digital age, intangible assets, especially intellectual property, are the key to breakthrough development thanks to science and technology.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ha - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Science and Technology.
In the modern music industry, intellectual property plays a fundamental legal role - protecting the creative value and interests of individuals and organizations. More than a management tool, intellectual property is also a spiritual support for musicians. When a song is protected, the composer's name is recognized, helping to affirm individual artistic identity.
Musicians have control over their work, including how it is distributed to the public. This is a creative incentive for artists to know that their work has financial and legal value.
Mr. Nguyen Quoc Ha - Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Science and Technology - also affirmed: "Intellectual property is not only a legal tool, but also a driving force for creativity and dedication. Protecting copyright and intellectual property rights helps artists, inventors, and entrepreneurs feel secure in contributing, creating, and spreading cultural, scientific, and technological values.
In the context of digital transformation and the 4.0 industrial revolution taking place strongly, intellectual property plays an increasingly key role in protecting intellectual property, minimizing the risks of copyright infringement and illegal copying.

Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - TikTok Representative in Vietnam.
Within the framework of the event, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh - Representative of Tiktok in Vietnam - also shared : "We need to develop cultural-related work, including creative work, by protecting copyright and increasing trust, new composers will enter the market, and there will be more music products".
There is a partnership between the State, investors and platforms to promote the creation of career opportunities for those who perform artistic products. If that can be done, it will build a developed creative industry.
When intellectual property rights are strong enough to be a "big cake" that develops in all aspects, there will no longer be a situation where the number of musicians increases while the number of singers and performing organizations decreases like a "narrow barrier" where one side is pulled and the other side is left open. When all parties sit together, it will be a strong driving force to help the music copyright industry grow, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh commented.
