An Giang: Promoting the role of supervision and social criticism of the Fatherland Front

After more than 4 years of implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, the Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province has oriented and directed the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province to successfully complete political tasks, in which the work of supervision and social criticism has achieved many important results.

Enhance the role of social supervision and criticism

The Party Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province is a Party organization directly under the Party Committee of Party Agencies of An Giang province, playing the role of political nucleus in the agency, comprehensively leading the activities of the team of cadres, party members, civil servants and workers.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province Ngo Phuong Vu emphasized: "The work of supervision and social criticism is an important task, contributing to building the Party and government, promoting the people's mastery, consolidating the great national unity bloc and building a socialist rule-of-law state of the people, by the people, for the people."

The monitoring delegation of the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kien Giang province, now An Giang province, worked in An Minh district (former Kien Giang province) in 2024.

For more than 4 years, the Fatherland Front system at all levels in An Giang province has closely coordinated with socio-political organizations and relevant agencies to develop a monitoring and feedback plan to ensure proper procedures.

The province has organized 7,495 supervisions in various forms: studying and giving opinions on documents (1,403), establishing supervision teams (1,533), participating in supervision with State agencies (1,577), supervision by People's Inspectorate and the community (4,024 cases). The supervision content focuses on the implementation of policies, laws, responsibilities of agencies, cadres, civil servants, party members in performing their duties...

Creating social consensus

Monitoring activities are widely deployed, typically: Election of National Assembly and People's Council deputies at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; administrative reform; exemplary responsibility of elected representatives and leaders; environment; food safety and hygiene; receiving citizens, handling complaints and denunciations; social security; building new rural areas and civilized urban areas; implementing laws on beliefs and religions; preventing and combating corruption; grassroots reconciliation...

The Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, together with sectors and socio-political organizations, met with people receiving housing support in the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.

In addition, socio-political organizations preside over many monitoring sessions related to social security policies, support for the people and community development. After monitoring, the Front and organizations promptly recommend to the authorities solutions to overcome limitations, improve the effectiveness of policy implementation, and contribute to strengthening the people's trust.

At the grassroots level, the monitoring activities of the People's Inspection Committee and the Community Investment Monitoring Committee have been strongly promoted. People directly participate in monitoring the implementation of democratic regulations and the construction of welfare works. Thereby, timely recommendations are made to the government to handle and resolve pressing issues, creating consensus in society.

Promoting the people's mastery

The work of providing social feedback and criticism was carried out in accordance with regulations, focusing on draft documents of Party congresses at all levels, draft laws, resolutions, programs, and directives of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee. As a result, the Provincial Fatherland Front commented on 14 drafts and gave feedback on 1,147 documents. Most of the comments were seriously accepted and explained by the drafting agency.

In particular, the Standing Committees of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels also organized many conferences to collect comments on the draft Resolution amending and supplementing a number of articles of the 2013 Constitution. The whole province has received 13,188 opinions, including 1,665 opinions from agencies, organizations, local Fatherland Fronts and 11,523 opinions from individuals, demonstrate the high sense of responsibility of the People towards important issues of the country.

Comrade Ngo Phuong Vu assessed that the results achieved in the work of social supervision and criticism in recent times have contributed significantly to promoting the people's mastery, building a clean and strong Party and government, and affirming the core role of the Fatherland Front in consolidating the great national unity bloc.
