An Vien focuses on sustainable agricultural production

Currently, An Vien is developing many agricultural production models that bring high economic efficiency. Promote the application of technology in production

In recent times, An Vien commune has promoted the application of science and technology in agricultural production. Many farming households have applied science and technology to livestock and crop farming such as: fish farming model with tarpaulin lining; automatic water-saving irrigation system in seedling breeding... which has helped the local agricultural sector maintain stable development.

One of the successful models that brings economic efficiency being implemented in the area is converting fish farming from conventional earthen ponds to ponds with tarpaulin lining.

Mr. Le Quang Tuan, residing in Tan Thinh hamlet, has 8 hectares of water surface for aquaculture, said: Since switching to raising snakehead fish, tilapia and other fish fry using a model of ponds lined with tarpaulin, the efficiency has been 3-4 times higher than before. Each year, his family's ponds yield 2 harvests of about 130-140 tons of commercial fish, distributed to traders in the market nationwide. By taking advantage of techniques, water, fry, food... at the right time, the model has brought high economic efficiency.

“In the coming time, I hope the local government will cooperate and provide more support in aquaculture techniques; create conditions for farmers to be trained and have conditions to develop their profession,” said Mr. Tuan.

In addition, many farming households in the commune have converted their crop and livestock structures appropriately, bringing high economic efficiency; including implementing a production chain model associated with sustainable consumption, helping to stabilize output for agricultural products, developing local OCOP products (One Commune One Product Program)...

A typical example is Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, who has a 3-hectare cocoa garden in Hamlet 4. Mr. Hung shared: Realizing that cocoa trees are suitable for this land, he boldly switched from growing cocoa intercropped with cashew gardens to participating in the Large Cocoa Field model. Thanks to high selling prices and good productivity, his cocoa area on average harvests about 70 tons each year, deducting expenses for an income of 500-600 million VND...
