Argentina wants to establish a strategic partnership with Vietnam in various fields.

At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to the traditional friendship and comprehensive partnership with Argentina; believes that Minister Diana Elena Mondino's visit to Vietnam will contribute to promoting Vietnam - Argentina relations in the coming time, focusing on areas where both sides have potential and needs, including industry and agriculture, for the benefit of the people of the two countries, for peace , cooperation and development in the two regions and in the world.

Regarding economy and trade, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his satisfaction with this field of cooperation as the two-way trade turnover between Vietnam and Argentina has remained stable over time, reaching 3.45 billion USD in 2023. Vietnam is the 6th largest trading partner and the 5th largest export market of Argentina globally, while Argentina is the 3rd largest trading partner of Vietnam in Latin America.

The Prime Minister suggested that the two countries, on the basis of good economic and trade cooperation, continue to make efforts to promote the increase of bilateral turnover, thereby achieving substantial progress, especially Argentina supporting and promoting the early negotiation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between Vietnam and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), contributing practically to the economic development of each country and MERCOSUR countries, creating long-term, strong relations and bringing the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Argentina to a new height.

The Prime Minister also requested that ministries, departments, branches and agencies of the two countries continue to coordinate to promote cooperation in other areas where both sides have needs and strengths; increase support for mutual consultation at multilateral forums and international organizations, and promote cooperation between specific regional organizations such as between ASEAN and MERCOSUR.

Minister Diana Elena Mondino expressed her admiration and congratulations on Vietnam's great achievements in innovation in all aspects, as well as its policies on macroeconomic management, inflation control, social security and sustainable development.

Minister Diana Elena Mondino highly valued Vietnam's growing role and position in the region and internationally; and proposed that both sides continue to pay attention to promoting cooperation in the fields of finance, tax, and aviation cooperation, which are areas of interest to the Argentine Government.

Ms. Diana Elena Mondino also expressed her hope that Vietnam will continue to pay attention to developing bilateral cooperation in agriculture and trade with Argentina, thereby aiming to soon establish a Vietnam-Argentina strategic partnership in the agricultural and industrial sectors in the near future.
