On the morning of March 15, the trial of Ms. Truong My Lan and her accomplices continued to clarify civil issues in the case.

The panel of judges clarified issues related to Ms. Truong My Lan's assets .

Ms. Truong My Lan said that her family's Bong Sen Company owns 93.6% of the shares in the Daewoo Hanoi Hotel. Ms. Lan proposed to sell this hotel to pay for the consequences of the case.

The panel of judges also announced that the Capital Place building at 29 Lieu Giai, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi, which Ms. Lan said her daughter Chu Duyet Phan was selling for 1 billion USD to remedy the consequences , was actually being mortgaged to borrow 230 million USD from 4 foreign banks. Currently, someone offered 360 million USD, so the defendant's statement that it was being sold for 1 billion USD was incorrect.

Confirming with the jury, Ms. Truong My Lan affirmed that after selling the Capital Place building, she would use it to pay off the bank loan and brokerage fees, and use the remaining amount to remedy the consequences. Regarding the shares in a foreign insurance company, Ms. Truong My Lan said that this insurance company belongs to a Hong Kong billionaire whose name she did not want to mention, and she bought shares worth about 920 billion VND.

Currently, the market price of these shares is up to 5,000 billion VND. Ms. Lan agreed that when sold, she will use this money to remedy the consequences.

Before this presentation of Ms. Lan, the panel of judges announced that the defendant's daughter had information that these shares were only sold for about 40 million USD, equivalent to 920 billion VND as at the time of purchase. Regarding the vaccine factory of Van Thinh Phat Group, the panel of judges announced that the defendant's daughter had the idea of transferring it to another partner to get money to remedy the consequences.

Ms. Truong My Lan agreed with her daughter's opinion. She said that she had invested 315 billion VND in this factory.

Regarding the villa at 112 Vo Van Tan (HCMC), Ms. Truong My Lan said that her mother bought it a long time ago, for 700 billion VND, and she asked not to seize that house.

"This is a Vietnamese relic conservation site. My family has been repairing it for 5 years now. I hope the jury will lift the seizure so we can continue repairing it. Otherwise, it will be damaged," Ms. Truong My Lan urgently requested.

The panel also announced that Thanh Hieu Company (under Phuong Trang Group) was the investor of the three projects. Due to owing Ms. Truong My Lan 450 billion VND, Phuong Trang Group later transferred Thanh Hieu Company to Ms. Lan for 3,450 billion VND.

However, Ms. Lan has only paid 1,250 billion VND, while they have transferred all legal documents and seals for Ms. Lan to manage.

Therefore, Phuong Trang proposed to return the 1,250 billion VND, and Ms. Lan returned the project to them.

Invited to clarify the issue related to Thanh Hieu Company, the representative of Phuong Trang Group unexpectedly affirmed that Phuong Trang transferred Thanh Hieu Company to 3 other people, not to Ms. Truong My Lan and Van Thinh Phat.

According to Phuong Trang Group representative, Ms. Lan was only the person who introduced these 3 people to Phuong Trang.

“Because Thanh Hieu Company is still operating, Phuong Trang has transferred its seal and legal entity to these 3 people to operate. When transferring, Thanh Hieu only transferred the project in District 7 to them, the remaining 2 projects are not yet legally complete so they have not been transferred,” Phuong Trang representative explained.

Also according to Phuong Trang Group, Thanh Hieu Company and 3 of its projects have been blocked.

"Thanh Hieu Company and the 3 projects have nothing to do with Van Thinh Phat. We request the People's Court to remove the blockade to continue implementing the project," Phuong Trang Group representative requested.
