Bac Kan honors 60 prestigious people, village chiefs, and advanced models in ethnic minority areas

NDO - On May 7, Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee held the 8th conference to commend prestigious people, village chiefs, and advanced models in ethnic minority areas in 2025.

According to Decision No. 12/2018/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister on criteria for selecting and recognizing prestigious people and policies for prestigious people among ethnic minorities, Bac Kan currently has 1,271 prestigious people in 939 villages, hamlets, and residential groups.

According to Directive No. 06/2008/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on "Promoting the role of prestigious people among ethnic minorities in the cause of national construction and defense", Bac Kan has 341 prestigious people who are retired officials, civil servants, dignitaries, intellectuals, teachers, doctors, village chiefs, party cell secretaries, etc.

Elected prestigious people all have qualifications or knowledge in a certain field, are exemplary in compliance and have a sense of responsibility in propagating and mobilizing families and the masses to comply well with the Party's policies and the State's laws.

The team of village chiefs, residential group leaders, and sub-district chiefs in Bac Kan currently has 939 people, all of whom meet the standards, qualities, enthusiasm, and ability.

In recent times, Bac Kan has done a good job of propagating and disseminating the Party's guidelines and the State's policies and laws to prestigious people at the grassroots level; promptly providing current information to prestigious people and village and residential group leaders.

From 2023 to present, Bac Kan has organized visits and given Tet gifts to 2,581 prestigious people; visited 342 prestigious people who were sick; supported 136 prestigious households affected by natural disasters; distributed 375 smartphones to prestigious people...

Bac Kan Provincial Police organized meetings and contacts with over 1,150 influential people to grasp the situation and listen to the people's thoughts and aspirations. The Provincial Police recruited 114 influential people to participate in propaganda, mobilization, and combating activities that take advantage of religion to violate the law. The influential people provided 285 valuable pieces of information to help the police prevent, stop, and handle violations of the law on security and order.

Prestigious people and village chiefs have an important position and role as a bridge between the Party, the government and the local people in all fields; propagating and mobilizing the masses to implement the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws and to carry out local tasks.

In this team, there have appeared many typical and advanced examples, such as: Ms. Nguyen Thi Thai, a prestigious person in Che Co village, Con Minh commune (Na Ri); Mr. Phung Tien Quang, Head of Ban Luong village, My Thanh commune (Bach Thong); Mr. Vu Trung Huan, Party cell secretary of Phieng Ca-Con Poong village, Nam Cuong commune (Cho Don)...

To promote the typical advanced team of ethnic minority areas, every year, Bac Kan builds a plan to expand the advanced models in general and specifically the typical key figures, intellectuals, businessmen, students and pupils in ethnic minority areas in particular.

In which, closely follow the professional tasks and fields of operation of each agency, unit and locality; continue to propagate and disseminate new initiatives, experiences, models and good practices.

Speaking at the Conference, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Bac Kan Provincial Party Committee Phuong Thi Thanh emphasized that the province's overall achievements in recent times have been contributed by prestigious people, village chiefs and typical examples of ethnic minority areas.

He asked this team to continue promoting their sense of responsibility for the development of the community; mobilize people to agree and actively participate in implementing major policies of the Party and State, and unite the nation.

Local Party committees and authorities create favorable conditions for prestigious people, village chiefs, and advanced models to participate in activities in mass organizations and in their residential areas; promote the role of this group in all fields.

At the Conference, the provincial leaders awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to 60 prestigious people, village chiefs, and advanced models in ethnic minority areas.
