Bac Ninh: Creating momentum for typical rural industrial products

BAC NINH - Voting for typical rural industrial products is one of the important contents of industrial promotion activities that Bac Ninh province has paid attention to organizing for many years. Up to now, the program has attracted more and more enterprises and cooperatives to participate, contributing to effectively exploiting the potential and strengths of local products.

Focus on applying scientific and technical advances

Realizing the purpose and importance of the program, the Department of Industry and Trade has advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue plans to organize the selection of typical rural industrial products. Accordingly, from 2014 to now, Bac Ninh has organized 9 selections of typical rural industrial products at the provincial level, attracting 240 establishments to register to participate with 268 products. Of which, 164 products have been recognized, focusing on the groups of agricultural, forestry, aquatic and food processing industries, spare parts, machinery and mechanical equipment.

Typical products include: Chu Green noodles of Trai Lam Noodle Production, Trading and Consumption Cooperative, Nam Duong commune; yellow flower tea of ​​Luu Chanh Medicinal Plant Production Cooperative, Truong Son commune; lychee in sugar water of VIFOCO Import-Export Joint Stock Company, Tien Phong ward; various types of wipers of Dong Au Lac Joint Stock Company and 6000W load-bearing 3-way socket (Neesanta) of Santa Vina International Joint Stock Company, Lam Thao commune; wooden mosaics of Manh Hung wooden mosaic establishment, Kinh Bac ward...

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Viet, Chairman of the Board of Directors, Director of VIFOCO Import-Export Joint Stock Company, Tien Phong Ward, said: “Since its establishment (in 2008), the Company has focused on applying scientific and technical advances to the production and processing of frozen agricultural products according to VietGAP standards. Thanks to that, many of the Company's products have met OCOP standards such as: canned lychee and longan; frozen cucumber, lychee and sweet potato. In particular, in 2023, with support from the province's industrial promotion program, the Company's lychee sugar water product was certified as a typical national rural industrial product. Since achieving this certification, the consumption output of lychee sugar water products has increased sharply and is exported to a number of demanding markets such as Korea, France, Germany, etc. The Company's revenue has grown by an average of 30% - 40%/year, creating regular jobs for nearly 70 workers, with an income of 10 - 15 million VND/person/month.

Continue to improve product value

The above results are thanks to the efforts of enterprises, cooperatives and the support of authorities at all levels, functional agencies such as the Department of Industry and Trade and the Department of Agriculture in implementing many preferential policies under the province's industrial promotion program. According to information from the Department of Industry and Trade, in the period of 2021-2025 alone, Bac Ninh province has supported nearly 90 production establishments to invest in advanced equipment; build technical demonstration models; support product showrooms, organize propaganda programs, exhibitions; train to improve the management capacity of business owners, cooperatives... with a total amount of more than 33.4 billion VND from national and local industrial promotion funds. Thereby, encouraging and motivating rural industrial production establishments to actively invest in expanding scale, innovating production methods, improving technology... Therefore, the number of rural industrial products registered to participate in the voting has increased day by day, and the quality has improved over the years.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Thinh, Director of Moc Bai Oi Cooperative, Bac Giang Ward, shared: “The Cooperative has 6 products recognized as typical rural industrial products. This result is partly thanks to the Department of Industry and Trade creating favorable conditions to support 600 million VND in industrial promotion capital to purchase modern production machinery. This year, the Cooperative plans to continue to register 3 products to participate in the program of voting for typical rural industrial products at the provincial level, including: Wooden tea tray; squirrel bridge; fine art carving”.

However, the implementation of the program to vote for typical rural industrial products still has difficulties and limitations such as: The number of establishments registering to participate in the voting is limited; some establishments are recognized as typical products but have not yet fully utilized their advantages for development; the voting criteria of "novelty, high value, capable of industrial-scale production" is a big challenge for many small-scale establishments lacking capital; in addition, the source of industrial promotion funding is still limited... According to Mr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, in the period of 2026-2030, the province aims to support the construction of at least 3 technical demonstration models; support investment in advanced equipment for about 90 production establishments; organize 2 exhibitions of typical rural industrial products and handicrafts; organize 2 rounds of voting for typical rural industrial products at the provincial level...

To effectively implement those orientations and overcome the above difficulties and limitations, the Department of Industry and Trade will focus on fully, promptly and accurately disseminating the basic contents of the industrial promotion program's policies and mechanisms to people and businesses. Focus on training and improving the professional capacity of the staff working in industrial promotion, ensuring sufficient qualifications to implement increasingly specialized programs. Encourage large enterprises in industrial clusters and craft villages to play a leading role, linking with small and medium-sized establishments for mutual development. Support a number of key industrial promotion projects with depth, while integrating other support programs into the same project and implementing them for many years, creating conditions for enterprises to develop into core units to replicate the model to other business units in the province.
