The Legal Department reviews the Draft Resolutions on administrative unit arrangement.

On the afternoon of April 26, the Legal Committee of the Provincial People's Council organized the examination of the Draft Resolution on the merger of the three provinces of Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, and Phu Tho to form a new province called Phu Tho province and the Draft Resolution on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Vinh Phuc province in 2025, presented at the 24th Session (Special Session), the 17th Provincial People's Council. Based on the directive documents of the Central Government and the province on the arrangement and consolidation of agencies in the political system, the People's Committee of Vinh Phuc province submitted to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and comments on the merger of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc and Hoa Binh provinces to establish Phu Tho province with a total natural area of ​​nearly 9.4 thousand km²; population of over 4 million people with 148 commune-level administrative units. The administrative and political center of Phu Tho province is currently located in Viet Tri city. At the same time, the Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Provincial People's Council for consideration and comments on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Vinh Phuc province in 2025. Before the arrangement, Vinh Phuc province had 121 communes, wards and towns. After the arrangement, the whole province has 36 commune-level administrative units, a reduction of 85 commune-level administrative units, reaching over 70%.

Head of the Legal Committee, Provincial People's Council Nguyen Thai Thinh emphasized: The merger of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh provinces and the arrangement of commune-level administrative units of Vinh Phuc province in 2025 is a major policy, supported by a large number of cadres, party members and people . On the basis of agreeing with the content of the 2 draft Resolutions, he requested the Department of Home Affairs to absorb the opinions of delegates to continue to perfect the Draft Resolution for the Provincial People's Council to discuss and consider at the upcoming 24th Session. At the same time, he requested that localities continue to promote propaganda work, creating high consensus among the people.
