According to VNA correspondents in the Middle East, as soon as Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived in Kuwait, many major newspapers such as Kuwait Times, Arab Times, Al-Jarida, Al-Anba, Al-Rai and Al-Seyassah... reported in detail the solemn welcoming ceremony at Kuwait International Airport, with the participation of high-ranking members of the Kuwaiti Royal Family, Advisor to the Prime Minister of Kuwait Basel Humood AL Sabah; Minister in charge of social affairs, labor, family and youth Amthal Al Huwaila; and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Vietnam Yousef Ashour Al-Sabbagh. Kuwaiti press emphasized that this was the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister in nearly two decades, clearly demonstrating the determination to deepen the traditional friendship between the two countries.

Many newspapers assessed that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s visit took place at a special time when the Middle East region is restructuring its foreign relations and diversifying its post-oil economy , while Vietnam continues to promote its foreign policy of “multilateralization and diversification”, proactively seeking strategic partners in the world’s most important energy region. Kuwait is one of the earliest countries to have relations with Vietnam in the Arab world, and at the same time plays an important role in ensuring Vietnam’s energy security through the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical project.

Kuwaiti and regional media therefore viewed this visit as a strong political signal, demonstrating the determination to renew bilateral relations after a period of disruption due to the pandemic and regional upheaval.

Kuwaiti media is paying special attention to the upcoming meetings between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the leaders of the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD) and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). The articles assessed that Vietnam is proactively expanding development cooperation with leading financial institutions in the region, while also showing Kuwait's interest in infrastructure, energy and social projects in Vietnam. Middle Eastern public opinion assessed that this is not only a diplomatic contact but also a reactivation of strategic financial channels, opening up opportunities for Vietnam to access ODA capital, infrastructure development, agriculture, health and environment - which are the strengths of Gulf development funds.

Many newspapers analyzed that economic and investment cooperation was the highlight of the visit. Commentaries in Al-Seyassah and Al-Akhbar emphasized Kuwait's role in the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical project, considering it an important demonstration of the possibility of expanding energy cooperation between the two countries. Some regional sources also mentioned the expectation of increasing bilateral trade and promoting cooperation between Kuwaiti enterprises and the Vietnamese market - considered dynamic and rich in potential in Asia.

The Middle East media sees Vietnam as a steadily growing economy and a potential market, with political stability, a large consumption and production market, in line with Kuwait’s investment diversification strategy. Kuwait sees Vietnam as a long-term partner in oil exports and energy services, and a country with high demand in the coming decades.

In addition to the bilateral significance, the Middle Eastern media viewed the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s visit as a strategic move to strengthen Vietnam’s presence in the ASEAN-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) cooperation space. Some Arab online newspapers also placed the visit to Kuwait in the overall itinerary of the Vietnamese Prime Minister’s visit to many countries ahead of the G20 Summit, demonstrating Vietnam’s growing role in international economic and political processes.

The Middle East media has generally assessed the visit as a positive signal, opening up broader prospects for cooperation in the fields of energy, investment, development and trade. Many articles have affirmed that the visit will contribute to bringing the Vietnam-Kuwait relationship to a new stage of development, both in political depth and economic breadth.
