Ensuring investment in construction of power grid projects

On April 23, Mr. Duong Van Thang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired a working session with the delegation led by Mr. Lam Xuan Tuan - Deputy General Director of Southern Power Corporation on the work of supplying electricity in the dry season of 2025 and investing in the construction of power grid projects in Tay Ninh province.

Tay Ninh has the highest growth rate among 21 affiliated Power companies.

At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Tan Hung - Director of Tay Ninh Electricity Company said that according to the actual load situation in the first 3 months of 2025, Tay Ninh Electricity Company determined to ensure electricity supply during the dry season months and the whole year of 2025.

In the first 3 months of 2025 up to now, the company has applied the method of operating the national power system without regulating or reducing load, the transmission and distribution grid system in the area has ensured safe and stable power supply to serve the socio -economic development of the locality.

Accordingly, the estimated maximum capacity (Pmax) in the dry season months of 2025 in Tay Ninh province is specifically: April is 1,026 Pmax, expected to grow by 7%; May is 1,040 Pmax, expected to grow by 7.3%; June is 1,042 Pmax, expected to grow by 7.5%; July is 1,023 Pmax, expected to grow by 7.1%.

Commercial electricity in the first 3 months of 2025 reached about 1,638 million kWh, an increase of 5% over the same period in 2024 (1,560 million kWh), reaching 21.9% of the plan assigned in 2025 (7,480 million kWh) and is one of the five units with the highest growth rate among 21 Power companies under the Southern Power Corporation.

The growth of the industrial - construction sector, accounting for 74.96%, has determined the high growth of commercial electricity in the first 3 months of 2025 of the entire company.

The growth rate of commercial electricity mainly focused on customer groups in the following groups: agriculture - forestry - fishery increased by 12.73%; industry - construction increased by 6.5%; commercial electricity in VGR industrial parks (Phuoc Dong) reached 632 million kWh, up 2.63%.

Tay Ninh Electricity Company said that the unit has worked with 247 customers with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh or more to propose and agree with customers to move from 5% to 10% of the load out of the peak time frame of the Southern power system from 14:00 to 16:00 every day to other time frames as a basis for signing an appendix of commitment not to exceed Pmax during peak hours of the power system.

Saved 37.7 million kWh of electricity consumption

Tay Ninh Electricity Company said that in the first 3 months of 2025, the whole province saved 37.7 million kWh of electricity consumption, reaching 2.31% compared to the total accumulated commercial electricity up to March 2025. In particular, the electricity saving output of customer groups such as: electricity saving in administrative agencies; electricity saving for public lighting; electricity saving in the service business sector; electricity saving in the industrial production sector.

In recent years, investing in the power grid has been one of the most urgent requirements. The Electricity Industry has spent a lot of capital to invest in developing the power grid, ensuring the goal: "Safe and stable power supply to meet the production, business and daily life needs of the people.

Recently, Southern Power Corporation invested in 17 110kV power grid projects in the province with a total estimated investment of 1,547 billion VND.

In addition, the Southern Power Corporation is implementing projects to develop the power grid for cities and small and medium-sized towns in Tay Ninh province with a total investment of about 164.7 billion VND.

In 2025, Tay Ninh Power Company was assigned by the Southern Power Corporation to manage 29 medium and low voltage power grid projects with a total approved investment of about 839 billion VND.

In 2025, Tay Ninh Electricity Company plans to carry out major repairs to 1 110kV grid project and 29 medium and low voltage grid projects with a total value of 52.24 billion VND.

Difficulties in investing in the construction of 110kV power grid

At the meeting, Mr. Lam Xuan Tuan said that currently, investment and construction projects continue to face many difficulties and obstacles, especially in site clearance. Therefore, power grid projects have not been put into construction in time compared to the set plan, in which, power grid investment projects to release renewable energy sources are facing many difficulties, so the unit proposed that the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province support the site clearance work to invest in power grid projects, increasing power supply to the area.

According to Tay Ninh Electricity Company, the work of compensation and site clearance for the construction of 110kV power grid projects has been fully performed by local departments and branches at all levels, and they have regularly coordinated and actively supported the Electricity sector in the work of compensation and site clearance for construction investment projects in the province.

However, there are 2 projects that have not been approved by the People's Committee of Tay Ninh city, the People's Committee of Go Dau district, and the People's Committee of Ben Cau district for compensation plans to serve as a basis for payment to affected households, including the project: Upgrading the 110kV Tay Ninh - Suoi Dop transmission line; Upgrading the 110kV Trang Bang - Ben Cau transmission line.

On the other hand, currently there are 4 projects that have had their route plans and transformer station locations reviewed by the Department of Industry and Trade, and the Project Management Boards of the Electricity industry have coordinated with Design Consultants to correct the documents.

In order to implement the investment program and power projects according to the approved planning, and complete the task of providing enough electricity for the socio-economic development of the province, Tay Ninh Electricity Company proposes that the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province consider directing the Management Board of industrial parks and large capacity customers to periodically provide full information on the demand for load development, the operating situation, and the occupancy rate of industrial parks, industrial clusters, urban service areas, high-tech zones, etc. so that the Electricity industry can promptly develop plans and scenarios to ensure appropriate power supply for each stage and proactively develop plans to implement the investment.

The Provincial People's Committee directs departments, branches, sectors and People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to create conditions and support the Electricity sector in negotiating the direction of power lines and transformer station locations, compensating for site clearance according to required progress targets, ensuring sufficient land fund for power projects to implement investment according to approved planning.

In his concluding remarks, Mr. Duong Van Thang - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the attention and support of the Southern Power Corporation in general and Tay Ninh Power Company in particular in providing electricity as well as investing in electricity projects to ensure production and business requirements in the province.

In the coming time, Tay Ninh province hopes that the Electricity sector will continue to prioritize investment in the power grid to serve agricultural production and business; in addition, Tay Ninh province always pays attention to, promotes propaganda, raises awareness for people and businesses to continue to save electricity, the province will inspect and urge to implement this issue well.

In the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the Southern Power Corporation will continue to support and invest more in projects related to the Electricity industry, ensuring sufficient power supply to serve key works and projects of the province.

In addition, in the construction of power grid projects, the province will review and resolve difficulties and problems related to site clearance compensation, in order to ensure the goals and progress of power projects in the area, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and local energy security.
