Initial information, on May 29, Tam Binh Ward Police discovered a suspect named Tam (35 years old) illegally storing drugs and stealing property. Tam was arrested by the police and taken to the headquarters for questioning.

At around 2:10 p.m., while the police were struggling to get a statement from Tam, he said he wanted to go to the toilet and a police officer opened the cell door and took him there. When he returned from the toilet, Tam pushed the police officer and ran away from the ward police station, jumping onto a local resident's motorbike.

At this time, many Tam Binh Ward police officers coordinated with local people to chase and arrest Tam about 10 meters from the ward police gate.
