According to the camera footage, at 4:37 p.m. on June 9, Ms. LTH (45 years old) was sweeping trash on the street in front of her house on Street 53 (Tan Phong Ward, District 7). At this time, about 2 meters away from Ms. H., a young man was driving his motorbike from the sidewalk onto the street. This person stood watching, then drove his motorbike closer, snatched the necklace from Ms. H.'s neck, and ran away. By reflex, the victim only had time to swing the broom and hit the robbery suspect.

Speaking to Thanh Nien on the afternoon of June 16, Ms. H. said that immediately after the incident, she went to the police to report it. The necklace that was snatched cost 25 million VND when she bought it.

Explaining how she remained calm and even "laughed" in the clip after her necklace was snatched, Ms. H. said she tried to stay calm to get her property back but failed. "I pretended to laugh and said loudly that it was fake gold so the robber would throw away the necklace, but he still took it and ran away," Ms. H. said.

A security guard at a cafe near the victim’s house said that at that time, he was walking across the street and saw a young man holding a necklace in his hand. The man tried to spin the necklace around to make it fit in the palm of his hand. Because he was driving with one hand and trying to avoid the man, the man almost crashed his motorbike into a car parked on the side of the road.
