According to the Ministry of Education and Training , the issuance of a circular amending and supplementing the General Education Program is the legal basis for considering and revising textbooks to suit reality.
The Ministry of Education and Training requested that the Departments of Education and Training organize comments on the draft revised curriculum of subjects and send them to the Ministry of Education and Training before August 8.
The 2018 General Education Program has been implemented for 5 years nationwide, just enough for one round for all grades. The Ministry has reviewed and researched the program to find solutions to limit existing problems, ensuring the program is more suitable to reality.
At this time, the whole country has implemented the arrangement of administrative units and two-level government, which directly affects the curriculum of four subjects: History and geography from grades 4 to 9; geography grade 12; history grade 10 and civic education grade 10.
Therefore, amending and supplementing the general education program is necessary to ensure the scientific and practical nature of the program.
The Ministry of Education and Training has clarified some contents that are expected to be revised in subjects. Specifically, the subject of Economic and Legal Education is expected to amend and supplement the 10th grade curriculum in topics such as the political system of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and the Constitution of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
History subject is expected to be revised and supplemented with an optional study topic in grade 10, which is the Vietnamese State and law in history.
The Geography subject in History and Geography is expected to be revised and supplemented in the curriculum for grades 4, 5, 8, 9 and geography in grade 12. The revisions are mainly about socio-economic regions such as: Regional boundaries; names and number of provinces and cities, area size, population of the region; economic development resources and the development and distribution of economic sectors in socio-economic regions; administrative maps; population maps, maps of sectors and economic regions in Vietnam.
The History subject in History and Geography is expected to be revised and supplemented in the 7th grade program, including: Periodization according to European history; for 9th grade, the content is the periodization of the renovation process in Vietnam from 1986 to present.
