Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has just issued an official dispatch assigning the Minister of Construction to be responsible for reviewing and ensuring sufficient grounds for adjusting the planning according to the simplified procedures for adding the planning of Mang Den airport and Van Phong airport to the planning of the airport system.
Specifically, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Minister of Construction to be responsible for reviewing and ensuring sufficient grounds for planning adjustment according to the simplified procedures and order as prescribed in Article 54a of the Law on Planning as amended and supplemented by Law No. 57/2024/QH15, in which attention should be paid to assessing air traffic safety and ensuring no overlap or conflict. When there is sufficient grounds for planning adjustment according to the simplified procedures and order, the Minister of Construction shall approve the planning adjustment and report to the Prime Minister as prescribed.

Previously, the Ministry of Construction submitted to the Government projects to study the possibility of forming Mang Den airport and Van Phong airport.
According to the proposal, Mang Den airport is expected to be located in Mang Den town, Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province; about 45km northeast of Kon Tum city center, about 73km northeast of Pleiku airport, about 105km northwest of Phu Cat airport, and about 93km southwest of Chu Lai airport.
Van Phong airport is expected to be located in Van Thang commune, Van Ninh district, Khanh Hoa province; about 65km south of Nha Trang city, about 108km south of Cam Ranh international airport, and about 48km north of Tuy Hoa airport.
