Minister of Defense sends letter praising Su-22 pilot for his intelligence and bravery

General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, has just issued a Letter of Commendation and a Decision to award a Certificate of Merit to pilot Do Tien Duc, Squadron Leader of Squadron 1, Regiment 929, Division 372, Air Defense - Air Force, for his intelligent and brave actions.

Minister of National Defense Phan Van Giang stated: “On January 9, 2024, while implementing the training plan of Regiment 929, he was assigned to pilot the Su-22M4 aircraft, number 5880, to conduct a training flight. When completing the mission and piloting the aircraft back to the airport to land, the aircraft encountered a technical problem and could not land safely. He reported to the flight commander and received the order to parachute. In a very short moment, the aircraft was in an emergency state at low altitude, falling very quickly, which could have endangered his life, but he calmly piloted the aircraft away from densely populated areas and parachuted safely, minimizing damage to people's lives and property.”

That action is very admirable, demonstrating the responsibility and spirit for the people and the Fatherland of a revolutionary soldier”, General Phan Van Giang praised pilot Do Tien Duc.

Minister Phan Van Giang emphasized: “On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, I commend and commend your sense of responsibility and calm, intelligent and brave actions; at the same time, I hope that in the coming time, you will continue to promote the noble qualities of “Uncle Ho’s Soldier”, proactively and creatively overcome difficulties, strive to excellently complete all assigned tasks, and contribute more to the cause of building the Army, consolidating national defense, building and protecting the Socialist Republic of Vietnam”.

The Minister of National Defense also decided to promote pilot Do Tien Duc from Captain to Major.
