Minister of Education requests to ensure safety for students in 19 localities at risk of flash floods

TPO - According to the Ministry of Education and Training, on May 26, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son sent an official dispatch to the Directors of the Departments of Education and Training of 19 northern provinces and cities, requesting them to proactively respond and ensure the safety of students, teachers and school facilities in the face of the risk of floods.

The telegram cited information from the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, during the night of May 22 to the morning of May 23, many areas in Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, and Bac Kan recorded heavy rainfall, some places exceeding 100mm, locally Lam Binh district (Tuyen Quang) had rainfall up to 256mm.

Heavy rain is forecast to continue in the coming days with a high risk of flash floods, landslides and inundation.

Faced with the above situation, the Ministry of Education and Training requested the Departments of Education and Training in the affected areas to closely monitor the developments of floods and storms and maintain regular contact with local authorities and rescue forces to promptly respond in case of incidents.
