Albania becomes the first country in the world to appoint an AI minister

Albania has officially become a world pioneer by appointing its first Minister of Artificial Intelligence (AI), a move expected to revolutionize the country's public procurement process.

The virtual minister is named Diella, which means "sun" in Albanian. Diella will be responsible for overseeing and managing all public procurement activities in the country.

Prime Minister Edi Rama said that decisions on tenders will be transferred from ministries to Diella. Diella will evaluate tenders and have the power to "hire talent from all over the world." With Diella's appointment, Albania aims to become a country where public tenders are "100% corruption-free and all public money involved in the tender process is completely transparent."

Speaking about this vision, Prime Minister Rama affirmed: "This is not science fiction , but Diella's mission." The appointment marks a bold step by Albania to leverage AI technology to increase transparency and efficiency in public financial management, while setting a new precedent for governments around the world.
