With two highly practical topics, the Zalo AI Challenge is not only a technological playground but also a place for young Vietnamese talents to apply AI to solve urgent social problems, from rescue to traffic safety.
First held in 2018, Zalo AI Challenge has become a prestigious event, attracting thousands of teams each year. This year, with a total prize value of up to 12,000 USD, the competition continues to affirm Zalo's commitment to accompanying the country in developing human resources and building AI sovereignty .
Dr. Chau Thanh Duc - Deputy Organizing Committee, Director of Research & Development at Zalo AI, shared: "Vietnam has great potential to rise in this field, thanks to its talented young team. Zalo AI Challenge is organized to introduce to the Vietnamese AI community the latest trends through highly applicable and practical problems."

The message "AI is a trusted partner" is conveyed directly through two challenging problems.
First, search and rescue with the AI "eye" AeroEyes. In the context of increasingly severe natural disasters and floods, the contest "AeroEyes - Finding and Rescuing with AI-Powered Drones" has great social value. The problem requires teams to build algorithms to control drones to automatically perform tasks of searching for people or important objects in harsh environments such as flooded areas and dense forests.
AI technology combined with drones is opening up a breakthrough in rescue work. Instead of relying on manual observation, these "eyes of the sky" can scan dozens of square kilometers in just a few minutes, analyzing images in real time to detect people in distress. This helps rescue forces determine the exact location, optimize resources and significantly shorten response time. The task simulates a real search and rescue mission, requiring teams to have not only knowledge of AI but also the ability to solve problems in emergency situations.
Second, RoadBuddy - "Virtual assistant" that understands traffic. With the complicated traffic situation in big cities like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City, driving safety is an urgent issue. The test "RoadBuddy - Understanding the Road through Dashcam AI" aims to build an intelligent driving assistant that can "understand" video content from dashcams.
This AI system will have to recognize traffic signs, traffic lights and dangerous situations to quickly answer the driver's questions. This technology not only helps reduce accidents due to lack of concentration but also supports drivers to comply with the law, contributing to building a safer and more civilized traffic environment.
Zalo AI Challenge 2025 retains the familiar Kaggle format, allowing teams to continuously update their results on the Leaderboard in real time. After the competition, Zalo also encourages teams to share their solutions with the community, creating an open space for learning and exchanging experiences.
Through practical problems, quality training datasets and valuable prizes, the organizers hope to promote the development of the Vietnamese AI community, not only limited to large companies but also expanding to the generation of students and small research groups.
The competition officially opens for registration from October 27, 2025 and closes on November 20, 2025. The final results will be evaluated on a separate dataset to ensure objectivity and fairness. With advice from leading AI experts, Zalo AI Challenge 2025 promises to continue to be a top intellectual arena, where creative ideas are given wings and technological solutions bring real value to life.
