Ministry of Construction urges implementation of social housing development targets

Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Van Sinh and the working delegation have just finished the inspection of the implementation of the social housing target to be completed by 2025 assigned by the Prime Minister for the provinces and cities: Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Quang Ninh, Quang Nam, and Hue city.

Through inspection, the Ministry of Construction acknowledged the attention and direction of localities in housing development in general and social housing and workers' housing in particular in the recent period.

However, according to the Ministry of Construction, some localities have not yet included social housing development targets in the 5-year and annual socio-economic development targets, have not yet established local social housing development steering committees, and the implementation of the social housing target to be completed by 2025 is still limited.

In order to complete the social housing target in 2025 assigned by the Prime Minister , the Ministry of Construction requires localities to focus on implementing many drastic solutions from leadership, direction to implementation.

Accordingly, it is necessary to urgently include social housing development targets in the system of 5-year and annual socio-economic development targets, and establish a local social housing development steering committee.

At the same time, review and supplement urban planning and industrial park planning to ensure land allocation for social housing development.

Along with that, it is necessary to step up the reduction and simplification of administrative procedures according to the authority on investment in social housing construction; strengthen the inspection and examination of project implementation to promptly detect violations and handle them according to authority.

The Ministry of Construction is finalizing a resolution to submit to the Government to submit to the National Assembly for promulgation of a pilot mechanism for the development of social housing, including mechanisms for appointing investors; reducing and integrating administrative procedures; and allowing businesses to rent social housing for workers.

The Ministry of Construction requested the People's Committees of the provinces to study and implement immediately after being approved by the National Assembly, to promote the development of social housing, determined to complete the targets assigned by the Prime Minister.
