The Ministry of Health requested to inspect and take samples of two products advertised by "Ngan Collagen"

On May 26, the Department of Food Safety (Ministry of Health) sent a document to the Department of Food Safety of Ho Chi Minh City and the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene of Hanoi to urgently inspect, verify the production activities and take samples for testing of two food products advertised by an individual nicknamed "Ngan Collagen".

The two products found to be in violation of regulations include: Apple candy to eliminate belly fat and N-collagen Chanh plus, both distributed by N-Collagen Import Export Company Limited (address: 28 Lot B Street, Phu Dinh River Port Resettlement Area, Ward 16, District 8, Ho Chi Minh City).

Through post-inspection, the Food Safety Department discovered that both of the above products had not been granted a certificate of product declaration registration and a certificate of advertising content as prescribed by the Department. However, the products were still widely advertised on social networks, causing confusion for consumers.

Specifically, the product Apple candy to eliminate belly fat is responsible for quality and distribution by Hoang Chau Pharm Company Limited (headquartered at No. 24, Lane 8/11, Le Quang Dao Street, Phu Do Ward, Nam Tu Liem District, Hanoi ). The manufacturing unit is Vesco Pharmaceutical Company Limited, located at Dan Phuong Industrial Park, Dan Phuong Commune, Dan Phuong District, Hanoi.

The product N-collagen Chanh plus is responsible for quality by Bequen Company Limited (same address at Dan Phuong industrial park, Dan Phuong commune, Dan Phuong district, Hanoi) and is manufactured by Visco Pharmaceutical Company Limited.

According to the provisions of Decree No. 15/2018/ND-CP of the Government , the management of supplementary food products has been decentralized to localities. Therefore, the Food Safety Department recommends that local authorities promptly inspect the production, business and advertising activities of relevant units; at the same time, take product samples for quality testing to protect the rights and health of consumers.

Currently, the Food Safety Department is coordinating with relevant agencies to continue monitoring and handling the case in accordance with the law.

Previously, regarding the N-Collagen brand, at the end of March 2022, the Food Safety Department issued a warning about advertising information about the health protection food N-Collagen weight loss support tea on a number of websites. At that time, the Food Safety Department was coordinating with relevant authorities to verify and handle the matter according to current regulations. The Food Safety Department recommends that consumers do not rely on false advertising content to buy and use the above products because it may affect health and the economy.

On social media platforms and e-commerce platforms, TikTok account Tran Thi Bich Ngan (Ngan Collagen) regularly posts videos advertising weight loss products. Among them, two products, apple candy and lemon peel powder detox, are advertised to have the effect of purifying, detoxifying, reducing belly fat, reducing body fat... According to the advertisement, these products are currently licensed by the Ministry of Health.
