Every year in the neighborhood where I live, a discussion is held on the occasion of the National Unity Day, but this ceremony still has its own appeal in my hometown. Because after the ceremony's rituals, there is always a friendly meal.
While cooking services are everywhere, villagers still choose to cook by themselves.
The menu was prepared by the villagers and most of the food was provided by them. The night before, villagers gathered at the cultural house to prepare everything they could. While the ceremony took place inside the cultural house, the meal was hastily prepared in the front yard. The solidarity continued from the ceremony space to the kitchen space and became a climax when the party began. Seeing the villagers gather around the dinner trays, chatting animatedly, asking and congratulating each other and enjoying the simple dishes but warmed with the love of the village and neighborhood that they had prepared themselves, one could see the full meaning of this special meal.
When life becomes more prosperous, few people lack a meal or a space to party. But the great solidarity meal in residential areas on this occasion still urges people for many reasons. Those who are busy all year round and many who are far from home all have the same reason, a space to slow down, raise a glass together, share a microphone to confide, show off their talents and share a stage to watch truly homegrown performances by the villagers and neighbors.
In that space, the villagers' relationship is strengthened, responsibilities are heightened. And if there are any problems, they will probably be resolved.
The meal is true to its name: “Solidarity Meal”. Through the meal, we help heal the rift in residential areas, foster village and neighborhood relationships, and people support each other in economic development, contributing to the development of the village.
