Designed by artist Caroline Veron, the stamps are 40mm x 30mm in size and printed using multi-colour offset lithography at Bpost's stamp printing facility. In addition to the postage stamps, Alderney and Guernsey also offers collectors' items such as stamp covers, souvenir stamps and first-day-of-issue envelopes (FDCs).

Each set includes seven denominations: 64p, 69p, 92p, 1.37p, 1.47p, 1.81p and 1.90p. The 64p stamp shares the theme of “12 Days of Christmas”, while the remaining 12 designs depict verses from the carol of the same name.

The Alderney stamps include: Partridge in a Pear Tree (69 pence), Turtledove (92 pence), French Hen (£1.37), Songbird (£1.47), Gold Ring (£1.81) and Goose Laying Egg (£1.90).

The Guernsey stamps show: Swan Swimming (69 pence), Milkmaid (92 pence), Dancing Girl (£1.37), Lord Dancing (£1.47), Piper (£1.81) and Drummer (£1.90).

According to the English Heritage organization, the “12 Days of Christmas” originated from Roman Catholic festivals celebrated in England since the Middle Ages and Tudor times, starting on December 25 and lasting until January 5 with many religious ceremonies, parties and entertainment activities.
