Daily Mail reported on August 11 that a source from the National Football League (NFL) of the United States said that the public backlash caused the organizers to decide to remove Lizzo from the Super Bowl LVII Halftime Show list. Previously, she was one of the top candidates for the show in early 2024.
"She is currently surrounded by scandals so she is no longer on the list of participants," the source revealed.
Lizzo has a big scandal in her career
A source close to the singer said her team is trying their best to find a solution to save her reputation and career. However, things are getting harder as more people accuse Lizzo of inappropriate behavior. People don't know if she can recover from this.
"If she speaks up, her statements will be chopped up, analyzed, scrutinized, but if she doesn't speak up, she will be called a coward," the source said.
The 2023 Made In America festival, which was scheduled to take place in Philadelphia and was headlined by Lizzo and SZA, has been canceled. The organizers did not give a reason for the cancellation, but many people speculated that it could be due to Lizzo's scandal.
On August 1, Lizzo was sued in Los Angeles by three female dancers, Crystal Williams, Noelle Rodriguez and Arianna Davis, who are no longer working with her. They accused her of sexual harassment, creating a "harsh work environment" and disrespecting employees.
The plus-size singer once invited dancers out on a night out while touring Amsterdam and visiting the red light district. She enticed and forced the dancers to take turns touching the private parts of the nude performers, not allowing them to refuse.
Lizzo has denied the allegations, but the incident has still had a serious impact on her.
Lizzo has been accused of being harsh on her dancers, forcing them to practice for long hours and firing them if they didn't satisfy the singer. One plaintiff said she couldn't go to the bathroom during a 12-hour rehearsal because she was afraid that if she left at any point during the session, she would lose her job.
The dancers are asking for damages and attorneys' fees from the singer. Last week, in an interview with Good Morning America, the plaintiffs said Lizzo is an inspiration to love life, love yourself, and celebrate body diversity. But she is fatphobic, like a hurt person who hurts others.
Lawyers representing the dancers said six new people have come forward with similar allegations against Lizzo. Lizzo and her legal team have denied all the allegations against her.
Lizzo was born in 1988 in Michigan, USA. She had a huge success with the song "Truth Hurts" - topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart for 7 consecutive weeks. She has 4 studio albums, won 4 Grammy Awards and many other awards.
