Network operators directly support users in flood-affected areas with more than 100 billion VND

On the afternoon of September 13, the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) announced support for people and customers affected by storm Yagi with a total value of about 100 billion VND.

Of which, Viettel contributed 20 billion VND to the Ministry of National Defense 's fund, and 80 billion VND for services provided to people directly affected by natural disasters.

Viettel directly supported service fees into the accounts of more than 2 million customers and established emergency communication for people and rescue teams in severely affected areas.

Viettel prioritizes establishing new connections and providing hundreds of SIM cards in communes and districts affected by landslides to ensure communication for rescue teams, such as Phuc Khanh commune, Nam Luc commune (Lao Cai), Ca Thanh commune (Cao Bang). Along with that, it provides 500 phone charging points in areas with power outages.

Up to now, Viettel network has been completely restored in the northern mountainous provinces. According to the actual situation, Viettel continues to support customers in areas affected by storms and floods.

Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has also announced a special support package of 50 billion VND for people and customers affected by storms and floods. Of which, 25 billion VND is in kind contributed by VNPT staff, each contributing one day's salary and from the group's social policy fund, and 25 billion VND is in services provided by VNPT to directly support people in flood-affected areas.

VNPT aims to deploy the support package to the people within 10 days, with the most practical forms of support to help local people quickly stabilize their lives.

Specifically, VNPT has implemented a policy to support VinaPhone mobile packages and reduce fiber optic Internet subscription fees to share difficulties with customers in 16 northern provinces and cities directly affected by storm No. 3 and flash floods and landslides.

Up to now, more than 3.6 million VinaPhone subscribers have been supported with the package (including 100 minutes of domestic calls & 15Gb of data) and nearly 600,000 fiber optic Internet subscribers have been supported with the subscription fee.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, storm No. 3 has caused communication loss in 15 provinces and cities, with 6,285 mobile base stations affected by power outages. Currently, businesses have fixed 4,012 BTS stations, while the remaining 2,273 stations are still being fixed.

As of 3:00 p.m. on September 11, floods following the storm also affected telecommunications infrastructure in the northern mountainous provinces, causing 995 station locations to lose contact.
