Emergency rescue in floods
Due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, many residential areas in Da Nang City were flooded over 3m deep, hundreds of households suffered heavy damage. Implementing the "4 on-site" motto, Brigade 680 (Navy Region 3) quickly mobilized forces, specialized rescue boats, special vehicles and cars to deep flooded areas to rescue and support people.

In Ha Nha commune, Brigade 680 coordinated with local authorities to evacuate dozens of households, prioritizing the elderly, women and children to safety.
According to Colonel Pham Van Toan, Brigade Commander of Brigade 680, Ha Nha commune is one of the most heavily flooded areas in this flood. Upon receiving the order, we immediately mobilized vehicles and officers and soldiers to the scene to help the people. This is both the responsibility and the sentiment of a Navy soldier towards the people.
Despite heavy rain and strong currents, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 3 still moved through the flood to transport people, supply food, drinking water, medicine and provide medical support.
Ms. Tran Thu Huong (residing in Hoi An ward, Da Nang city) emotionally shared: "The water rose so quickly, the whole family was very scared. Luckily, thanks to the timely support of the Navy, we were safe."

Up to now, the Naval Region 3 Command has mobilized more than 200 officers and soldiers, 7 rescue boats and 12 motor vehicles to rescue people in deeply flooded areas in Da Nang and Hue.
Pioneers in disaster prevention and control
Faced with the complicated developments of the floods, the water level in some areas of Da Nang has exceeded the historical mark of 1964. The Navy Region 3 forces are still persistently holding on to heavily flooded areas such as Phong Dien ward (Hue city) and the communes and wards of Ha Nha, Hoa Tien, Hoi An, Dien Ban (Da Nang city).

The boats not only carried people but also essential relief goods: more than 1,030 kg of dry food, 150 boxes of noodles, 80 kg of meat and canned meat, 100 kg of rice, vegetables, life jackets and medicine... along with more than 32 million VND in cash to support people in flood-affected areas.
The images of Navy soldiers wading through water all night, rescuing people, delivering goods, cleaning houses, and helping people stabilize their lives have left a strong impression, warming people's hearts in the midst of harsh natural disasters.

According to the Naval Region 3 Command, in the coming days, the unit will increase human resources and vehicles, continue to support the provision of food, medicine, and transport people and assets to safety. At the same time, coordinate with local authorities to clean the environment, disinfect, and handle the aftermath of the flood when the water recedes.

With the spirit of “helping people like helping relatives”, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 3 have clearly demonstrated their pioneering and main role in natural disaster prevention and search and rescue work. Their brave and dedicated actions continue to spread the noble image of “Uncle Ho’s soldiers – Vietnam People’s Navy soldiers”, contributing to strengthening the military-civilian relationship in the new situation.
