Da Phuc Port restores bustling exploitation rhythm

The sounds of winches, conveyor belts, and ship horns resounded regularly. Each shipment leaving the port reconnected the trade flow, at the same time affirming the port's enduring vitality and key role in local economic development.

The heavy rains and floods caused by the circulation of storm No. 11 caused the Cau River to rise, and most of the wharves in the Da Phuc port area were deeply submerged. At that time, many people were worried that the province's waterway transport activities would be interrupted for a long time. However, just a few days after the water receded, the sounds of engines, conveyor belts and trucks were bustling throughout the port, signaling the return of vitality to this vital trade route.

At the wharf, hundreds of workers are working diligently in an urgent atmosphere. Goods such as coal, iron ore, cement, sand, gravel, gypsum, etc. are loaded and unloaded continuously. Cargo ships arrive and leave the port busily, restoring the important supply chain for industrial zones in Thai Nguyen and neighboring provinces.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thang, Director of Phu Thinh CO2 Company Limited, said: Never before has the water level risen so high, causing great damage to businesses. But as soon as the water level receded, we mobilized all human resources and machinery to overcome the consequences and restore the wharf. Up to now, the Company has completed about 50% of the contract volume, ensuring the supply of goods for production factories.

As one of the units with the largest transit volume in the region, with 60,000 to 70,000 tons/month, Phu Thinh CO2 Company Limited is an important link in the supply chain of many major partners such as: Bac Thai Coal Trading Company, Quang Son Cement, La Hien, Quan Trieu...

At the coal warehouse of Anh Phuong Investment and Trade Development Joint Stock Company, loading and unloading activities also took place at a high intensity. Mr. Bui Huu Khoa, in charge of the port and warehouse, said: Our warehouse is more than 12,000 square meters wide, transferring from 3,000 to 5,000 tons of coal per month. After the storm, the entire area was deeply flooded, but after only a week, we cleaned up and put the warehouse back into operation. Currently, all orders are delivered on schedule.

Thanks to the urgent work spirit of businesses, the Da Phuc port area soon stabilized. On average, each loading and unloading point reached 30,000-35,000 tons of cargo per month, and at peak times it could reach 50,000 tons. The rapid recovery helped reconnect the supply chain for industries, while ensuring jobs and stable income for hundreds of local workers.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Tai, Vice Chairman of Trung Thanh Ward People's Committee, affirmed: Da Phuc Port is a key economic area of the locality. After storm No. 11, the local government closely coordinated with businesses to restore production, ensuring safety for people and vehicles, especially at the end of the year when the amount of transit goods increased.

Not only is it the largest cargo transit point of Thai Nguyen, Da Phuc port also plays the role of a gateway connecting the midland and mountainous areas of the North with key economic centers such as Hanoi , Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. The two main transport routes Da Phuc - Hai Phong and Da Phuc - Hon Gai have formed a complete transport network, helping to bring goods to seaports and vice versa, significantly saving logistics costs.

Currently, Da Phuc port area has 17 ports, of which 12 have been licensed, 2 are completing procedures and 3 are not yet qualified for operation. The ports mainly handle heavy cargo such as coal, minerals... However, infrastructure is still limited, many roads are degraded, storage yards are narrow and there is a lack of centralized logistics areas, affecting overall exploitation capacity.

Mr. Tran Phuc, representative of TranCo Trading and Service Company Limited, said: If invested synchronously, Da Phuc port can become a transportation hub in the Northern midland region, helping to reduce costs by 30-40% compared to roads, while improving safety and being environmentally friendly.

Sharing the same view, Mr. Nguyen Van Thang (Phu Thinh CO2 Company Limited) expressed his hope that by 2026, the completion of the new wharf system will create more jobs, expand the transportation of soil, cement additives and waste soil from the mine, thereby affirming the potential for sustainable economic development that modern port infrastructure can bring.

In the context of Thai Nguyen welcoming a wave of large-scale FDI investment, modern logistics infrastructure is a key factor to improve competitiveness. The planning of a general port in the Da Phuc area with the ability to receive large-tonnage ships, integrating bonded warehouses and logistics services will open up a new direction of development, not only serving industrial goods but also expanding to agricultural products, construction materials and high-tech products.

These days, Da Phuc port has returned to its bustling pace. On the Cau River, ships carrying goods spread throughout the region, while workers are still working tirelessly day and night. After the storm and flood, the port quickly revived, becoming a living proof of the strong resilience of the dynamic economic region, where each ship leaving the port contributes to promoting the development of Thai Nguyen.
