Warning about impersonating officials of the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Tri to commit fraud

This morning, May 25, information from the Department of Planning and Investment (DPI) of Quang Tri said that, in response to complaints from enterprises, cooperatives, and business households about the appearance of impersonating department officials to commit fraudulent acts for illegal profit, the unit has just issued a warning document and requested relevant agencies to investigate and prevent it.

Accordingly, recently, a number of business owners, cooperatives, and business households in Quang Tri province have reported the appearance of individuals impersonating officers of the Department of Planning and Investment, contacting them to offer to buy and sell books, software, documents, or participate in training, fostering, and sponsorship classes; in some cases, impersonating them to undertake administrative procedures for business registration over the phone, in which they are required to provide personal documents and information unrelated to the handling of administrative procedures.

Deputy Director of the Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Tri Le Thi Thuong said that these were acts of impersonating department officials for illegal gain, affecting the reputation and image of the State management agency. The Department of Planning and Investment affirmed that it did not send officials to contact by phone or use any other form of communication to support any activities as reported above.

To warn and prevent, we have sent a document to relevant units requesting that agencies and units inform the public and businesses about this content to avoid being exploited. At the same time, we request the Quang Tri Provincial Police to direct professional units to review, investigate and handle organizations and individuals who impersonate Department of Planning and Investment officials for the purpose of fraud, illegal profiteering, and causing trouble for businesses.
