It is forecasted that in the next 3-6 hours, the above provinces will continue to have rain with common rainfall from 20-50 mm, some places over 70 mm. There is a risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes in the above provinces, especially in the districts of Bat Xat, Bao Thang, Muong Khuong, Lao Cai City, Sa Pa Town (Lao Cai); Yen Minh, Bac Quang, Hoang Su Phi, Quan Ba, Quang Binh, Vi Xuyen, Xin Man (Ha Giang).

Warning level of natural disaster risk due to flash floods, landslides, and land subsidence due to heavy rains and floods in Ha Giang and Lao Cai is level 1. Flash floods and landslides can have very negative impacts on the environment, threaten people's lives; cause local traffic congestion, affect the movement of vehicles; destroy civil and economic works, causing damage to production, economic and social activities.

The meteorological agency recommends that local authorities pay attention to reviewing bottlenecks and vulnerable locations in the area to take preventive and response measures.

Warning of thunderstorms and heavy rain in the North and North Central regions

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh, Deputy Head of Weather Forecast Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on April 28, cold air will affect the Northeast region, then affect the North Central region, and some places in the Northwest region.

Due to the influence of cold air, the Northeast region has rain, moderate rain and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain to very heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40 mm, locally over 80 mm; the Northwest and North Central regions have showers and scattered thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 15-30 mm, locally over 50 mm. The rain gradually decreases at night.

Meteorological experts note that thunderstorms may produce tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Localized heavy rains may cause flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on steep slopes and flooding in low-lying areas.
