World's best players gather at the 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-Ball Billiards Pool Tournament

The 2024 Ho Chi Minh City Open 9-Ball Billiards Pool Tournament is organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation (HBSF) with a total prize value of up to about 2.8 billion VND (equivalent to 110,000 USD).

This is the largest international Billiards Pool tournament in Vietnam, recognized by two prestigious Billiards organizations, the World Billiards Pool Federation (WPA) and the Asian Billiards Sports Federation (ACBS). Accordingly, all domestic and international players can register to participate and will be scored on the WPA rankings.

In the final round, the champion will receive an attractive prize of up to 35,000 USD (nearly 900 million VND). The runner-up will receive 13,000 USD (nearly 330 million VND). The third place winner will receive 5000 USD. In addition, the top 8 will receive 3000 USD, the top 16 will receive 1600 USD, the top 32 will receive 800 USD and the top 64 will receive 450 USD. The places to compete in the final round will be allocated by WPA.

To create conditions and opportunities for Vietnamese and international players to compete with the world's top players, Ho Chi Minh City Open 2024 has organized a Qualifying Round with 128 players competing to select the 32 best players to compete in the final round. The qualifying round champion receives 5,000 USD (about 130 million VND).

The final round of the tournament will take place from September 25 to September 29 at Ho Xuan Huong Stadium with 128 domestic and international athletes. The most famous Vietnamese players such as: Pham Phuong Nam, Luong Duc Thien, Ta Van Linh, Nguyen Phuc Long, Vu Quang Huy, Nguyen Khanh Hoang, Hoang Thai Duy, Ngo Hong Thang, ... will have the opportunity to compete with the world's top players such as: Alexander Kazakis, the Greek superstar ranked 2nd in the world; Carlo Biado, the world's 4th star considered the "new Efren Reyes" of Billiards Philippines; Denis Grabe (Estonia, world's 3rd), Wu Kun Lin (Taiwan-China, world's 8th), Bader Alawadhi (Kuwait, world's 9th) ...

Mr. Nguyen Van Tri, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Billiards & Snooker Federation, said that this is the largest tournament ever, with many excellent players from around the world. This is an opportunity for Vietnamese players to exchange and improve their skills as well as promote the image and people of Ho Chi Minh City.

Mr. Malvin Chia, Technical Director of the World Pool Billiards Federation (WPA), said that the tournament is recognized by WPA for ranking points; WPA will ensure the quality of the tournament and hopes that after this tournament, there will be more major tournaments in the competition system held in Vietnam.
