Formula for calculating admission score

Candidates should note the formula for calculating admission scores to grade 10 of non-specialized public high schools for the 2023-2024 school year of the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training to be proactive in the review process as well as calculating admission scores.

Admission score = (Math test score + Literature test score) x 2 + Foreign language test score + Priority points (if any).

In which, the test scores of each subject are calculated on a 10-point scale. Regarding the admission principles, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training clearly stipulates: Recruit candidates who wish to register for admission to the school, taking the admission scores from high to low until the quota is full. The Department only considers admission for students who have enough test scores according to regulations, do not violate the exam regulations to the extent of canceling the exam results, and do not have any exam with a score of 0.

According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the city currently has 129,210 ninth graders. These students will participate in the recognition of junior high school graduation in the 2022-2023 school year.

If they are qualified to graduate from junior high school and wish to, they will continue to register and take the entrance exam to grade 10 of high school in the 2023-2024 school year in Hanoi.

Last school year, the whole city also had more than 129,000 students participating in the recognition of junior high school graduation, of which more than 107,000 students took the entrance exam to grade 10 of high school in the 2022-2023 school year.

About 22,000 students did not take the 10th grade entrance exam because they had many other options because they were admitted based on their junior high school transcripts to self-financed public high schools, non-public high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers or vocational education institutions that enroll junior high school graduates.

These are suggested options for students who are not eligible to apply for admission to grade 10 at public high schools for the 2023-2024 school year.

According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, to be eligible to apply for admission to grade 10 of a public high school for the 2023-2024 school year, students (or their father, mother, or guardian) must have a permanent residence in Hanoi.
