Chinese robotics company EngineAI has responded to skepticism regarding the smooth movements of its T800 humanoid robot, attributing them to CGI (visual effects). The company released a clip showing its CEO wearing protective gear and being kicked directly by the robot.
This "demonstration" was intended to prove the robot's physical capabilities and refute accusations of special effects fraud. According to Interesting Engineer , this is also considered a rather unusual strategy in a field that usually relies on technical specifications, or a bold marketing ploy.
In the clip, CEO Zhao Tongyang of the Shenzhen-based company is thrown to the ground after a powerful kick from the T800, a newly launched humanoid robot. The clip, filmed from multiple angles, shows the robot maintaining its balance after the kick and even striking a short pose afterward.
Despite attracting attention on both Chinese and international platforms, reactions were divided. One side praised the daring performance, while the other argued that the collision appeared to be staged.
EngineAI unveiled the T800 with a dramatic video showing the robot performing flying kicks and breaking down doors, which sparked debate about its authenticity. The initial clip was filmed in a dark studio, leading some viewers to doubt the CGI effects due to the cinematic editing and lighting style.
In its initial response, the company released new behind-the-scenes video on X showing the T800 in a simple studio. Through this, EngineAI confirmed that the robot's fast and precise movements were completely real.

The field of humanoid robotics is rapidly developing, with companies like Tesla, Boston Dynamics, and Figure AI dominating the market. While most competitors focus on industrial and logistics applications, EngineAI has chosen to promote its robots as combat-ready and has announced plans to host a robot combat tournament.
According to Humanoidsdaily, the CEO's sparring session kicked off the "Robot Boxer" event that EngineAI will be holding on December 24th. These high-intensity performances are part of a deliberate strategy, not isolated acts of demonstration.
EngineAI's T800 is a humanoid robot designed for agile movement, endurance, and a wide range of tasks. The robot is 1.73 meters tall and weighs 75 kg with batteries attached.
EngineAI states that the T800 is constructed using aerospace-grade aluminum panels to optimize the stiffness-to-weight ratio, combined with an aerodynamic design to enhance performance and durability. In terms of perception and navigation, the T800 utilizes a multi-layered sensor system including 360-degree LiDAR, stereo cameras, and a fast-responding environmental processor.
In terms of computing power, this platform combines an Intel N97 controller with an NVIDIA AGX Orin module, delivering performance for AI tasks and supporting custom development. The robot can walk at speeds up to 3 m/second and is designed for a range of applications, from logistics and hospitality to collaborative tasks and general service roles.
