+ Advice from the Editor:
The Honor X9d would be suitable for students who need a phone with good performance and a long-lasting battery for gaming, or those who frequently work in high-risk environments such as construction sites, or drivers who need a durable phone for extended use.
However, this wouldn't be a suitable choice if you have high demands regarding photography.
Honor X9d Review: High durability, long-lasting battery, but limited camera capabilities.
Design and display
The overall appearance of the Honor X9d has become more angular compared to its predecessor thanks to the flattened edges. The four corners are slightly rounded, giving it a comfortable grip. The device retains the characteristic design with a circular camera module placed in the center of the back.
On the red version, the back is finished with a faux leather material that helps reduce dirt accumulation and provides a comfortable grip.

The back panel is made of faux leather, which helps reduce dirt accumulation and provides a more comfortable grip. The plastic frame makes the device lighter, but it attracts quite a lot of fingerprints during use.
The Honor X9d is 7.8mm thin and weighs 193g. This is considered a relatively slim and lightweight device, especially given its high-capacity battery. This model is among the most durable smartphones in the mid-range mobile segment.
The device is certified by SGS Switzerland for drop protection from a height of 2.5m. The body combines non-Newtonian liquid materials and next-generation tempered glass, increasing shock and scratch resistance.
The device features a triple-layer 2.0 waterproof structure and meets the IP69K water and dust resistance standard, allowing it to withstand high-pressure sprays, hot water, dirty water, or strong jets of water.
A reporter from Dan Tri newspaper also conducted practical tests, including submerging the device in water, dropping it onto the road, and running it over with a car. The device only showed some minor dents and scratches at the corners, while the screen and all features worked normally.
However, it should also be noted that these technologies are integrated to enhance the user experience and product durability. Users should not rely too heavily on or test the device in hazardous conditions to avoid risks.

The Honor X9d features a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. AMOLED screens are known for their vibrant colors, deep blacks, and wide viewing angles. The maximum screen brightness reaches 6000 nits, allowing for clear visibility even in bright light. The bezels are uniformly thin at 1.3mm, providing a pleasing visual experience.
The punch-hole selfie camera on the screen is small and doesn't have the dark halo effect seen on some LCD screens in the same segment. The device also integrates an in-display fingerprint sensor for fast recognition. However, the relatively low placement of the fingerprint sensor makes it less convenient to use.
Additionally, this screen also supports AI Heavy Rain Touch and AI Glove Touch technologies, allowing users to interact with the touchscreen even in the rain or while wearing gloves.
Performance and battery
The Honor X9d features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 processor, 8/12GB of RAM, and 256/512GB of storage options. According to performance benchmarking software like Antutu Benchmark, it scored over 1 million points.
A quick comparison with some competitors in the same segment shows that the vivo V60 Lite, using the Mediatek Dimensity 7360 Turbo chip, scored over 930,000 points; the Samsung Galaxy A56, using the Exynos 1580 chip, scored nearly 900,000 points; and the realme 15, using the Dimensity 7300+ 5G chip, scored 740,000 points.

As can be seen, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chip offers relatively good processing performance in the mid-range segment. In real-world testing with some popular games like PUBG Mobile and Arena of Valor, the device can achieve 60fps with high graphics settings. Throughout the gaming session, the device operated stably without any frame rate drops.
The highlight of the Honor X9d lies in its 8,300 mAh silicon-carbon battery, one of the largest on the Vietnamese market today. The device also integrates 66W SuperCharge fast charging technology and supports reverse charging to share power with other devices.
With continuous gaming and extensive internet usage, the device can comfortably last a full day. Meanwhile, if the user only performs basic tasks like making calls or browsing the web, the device can easily last two days.
Camera and AI features
Compared to its predecessor, the camera on the Honor X9d doesn't have many upgrades, still using a 108MP main lens with optical image stabilization and a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens. This camera system also integrates AI, which can automatically recognize different scenes to suggest appropriate photo shots based on the environment.

The main camera performs reliably in most everyday conditions. Photos have good detail and the colors are processed in a pleasing way. However, when shooting in low light, the images have a yellow tint and the processing is slower.
The image quality from the ultra-wide-angle camera is also not high. Colors are quite inaccurate and detail is significantly less than with the main camera. Furthermore, another limitation is that the device does not support a telephoto lens, so it will not be suitable for those with high demands for mobile photography.
In return, the device integrates quite a few AI features such as the Google Gemini suite with Gemini Live assistant, allowing users to optimize the camera system. The Circle to Search AI feature allows for quick searches by circling content on the screen.
The device also supports a range of AI photo editing features. These include AI object removal to eliminate objects or people that accidentally appear in a photo, AI enhancement to make older photos sharper, and AI image expansion to enlarge a missing frame.

In addition, the phone also integrates the Honor AI suite with a range of features such as AI translation, AI writing, and automatic text correction, etc. Overall, the AI suite integrated into the Honor X9d is relatively diverse and can compete head-to-head with rivals such as Galaxy AI, OPPO AI, or Xiaomi HyperAI.
Summary
The Honor X9d is sold in the Vietnamese market at a price starting from 10 million VND. The device directly competes with several rivals in the same segment such as the Samsung Galaxy A56, vivo V60 Lite, and realme 15.

This product would be suitable for student users who need a phone with good performance and a long-lasting battery for gaming, or those who frequently work in high-risk environments such as construction sites, or drivers who need a durable phone for extended use.
However, for users who need to take high-quality photos and videos , this product is not really a suitable option.
