Huge fire destroys 50,000m2 warehouse in St. Petersburg

A major fire has destroyed a warehouse of one of the country's largest online retailers in the city of St. Petersburg, Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry said.

Information about the fire was received by authorities at about 7:42 a.m. on January 13, Moscow time (11:42 a.m. Hanoi time).

The Russian Emergency Situations Ministry said the fire covered an area of 50,000 square meters and was rated as level 5, the most serious level.

Nearly 300 firefighters and dozens of fire trucks and helicopters are working to extinguish the fire.

The Wildberries retail company's press office confirmed that the warehouse belonged to them and said all employees had been evacuated. There have been no reports of injuries as a result of the fire.
