GreenUP Long An Half-Marathon 2024: Running to reforest 11,000 primeval forest trees in Central Vietnam.
Nearly 4,000 runners from Vietnam and abroad participated in the GreenUP Long An half-marathon 2024, experiencing the unique and colorful Southern Vietnamese countryside route.
On the evening of August 24th, the Long An Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company (CTD – HoSE), Dong Tam Joint Stock Company, and Tuoi Tre Newspaper jointly organized the GreenUP Marathon: Long An Half Marathon 2024 with the message "The finish line is where it begins" in Can Giuoc district.
The GreenUP Marathon: Long An Half Marathon 2024 attracted 3,650 domestic and international athletes. Athletes competed in three distances: 5km, 10km, and 21km. The race route traversed Vietnam's first international port (Long An International Port) and also featured lush green rural roads.
A highlight of the race is the flag-raising ceremony held before each race at the tallest steel-pipe flagpole in Indochina (within the Long An International Port complex). The flagpole is 63 meters high (representing the 63 provinces and cities of the country) and the national flag measures 54 square meters (representing the 54 ethnic groups).

With the spirit of creating green spaces and spreading the message of environmental protection, the organizers of the GreenUP Marathon: Long An Half Marathon 2024 are committed to planting more than 11,000 trees in public areas and areas needing greening in localities to contribute to improving the living environment for the community.
Furthermore, all items for the athletes, from medals to running shirts, are made from recycled, environmentally friendly materials. In addition, before and after the race, athletes can immerse themselves in the rich cultural atmosphere of Southern Vietnam, with performances of traditional folk music, stalls featuring folk games, and food from the Southwestern region of Vietnam.
The organizers hope that, in addition to encouraging a spirit of sportsmanship, the race will help spread a green lifestyle to the community. The success of the race is a testament to the collaboration between agencies, businesses, and the community in spreading awareness and taking action for a prosperous and sustainably developed Vietnam.
The GreenUP Marathon 2024 coincides with the 20th anniversary of Coteccons' partnership in the development of Vietnam's construction industry. Mr. Bolat Duisenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Coteccons, shared: “Through this race, we want to convey the new spirit of Coteccons and its partners. Internally, it's the spirit of moving forward, daring to face challenges, ready to step ahead with the will to overcome obstacles and a desire for success. Externally, it's the service to the community associated with sustainable values. We at Coteccons are in a race to create a new type of construction company; the winner is not the one who takes everything, but the one who can bring together as many colleagues and partners as possible to achieve success and move forward together. That is the image of an “Industry Leader” that we pursue. From a business perspective, Coteccons understands that when building a project, we understand that Coteccons is helping customers create lasting values that are not limited to economic benefits but are also symbols of environmental protection and sustainable community development.”
