It is worrying that the concentration of PM2.5 fine dust in Hanoi reached nearly 136 µg/m 3 , nearly 10 times higher than the recommendation of the World Health Organization (no more than 15 µg/m 3 ). With the above AQI index, at 5:00 p.m. the same day, Hanoi was among the 3 most polluted cities in the world including: Delhi (India), Hanoi and Lahore (Pakistan).
Recently, not only Hanoi but also many localities in the North such as Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen... are also in a state of air quality at a level harmful to health.

According to some environmental experts, the air quality has been more polluted recently due to changes in the weather, the dry northeast monsoon has caused pollutants to not disperse high up but concentrate close to the ground. Along with that, traffic, industrial, construction and residential activities have increased sharply at the end of the year, causing fine dust and many pollutants.

To protect health, the Ministry of Health recommends that people regularly monitor air quality to proactively take health protection measures.

When the AQI is at a bad level from 151 to 200, people should limit outdoor activities, choose less polluted times to work and rest more. Using bicycles and public transport is encouraged to reduce exposure to polluted air. The elderly, children, and people with respiratory diseases should do indoor activities, clean their nose, throat, and eyes with saline. When the AQI is at a very bad level from 201 to 300, all outdoor activities should be limited as much as possible.
