On the afternoon of November 11, the People's Committee of Can Tho City worked with leaders of local universities to listen to proposals, recommendations and discuss human resource training orders. Here, the school leaders all hoped that the City would create favorable conditions in terms of land to expand training facilities.

Dr. Nguyen Van Quang - Principal of Nam Can Tho University proposed that the People's Committee of Can Tho City support the allocation of 100 hectares of land to build a nursing home (in the old Phong Dien district) and other facilities to serve the development of the school.
Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Nha - Principal of Can Tho University of Technology proposed that the City consider transferring the land and facilities left over after the merger of Can Tho College (5.2 hectares) to the school to use as a training facility. The City should soon implement compensation and site clearance to invest in building the school's second facility in Long Tuyen ward. "The 5.7-hectare land for the school's second facility has not been cleared for more than 12 years because of the two households' failure to reach an agreement," said Mr. Nha.
Associate Professor Dr. Tran Trung Tinh – Rector of Can Tho University also expressed his wish to receive the land and headquarters of Can Tho College if there is surplus after the merger. According to Mr. Tinh, the above land is adjacent to the first campus of Can Tho University, convenient for the school to invest in expanding into a pedagogical high school.

The leaders of Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy said that the school is developing a project to become a national key university by 2030. Therefore, the school needs to invest in facilities, increase scale, human resources and training quality, implement many scientific and technological activities, digital transformation, etc. The school leaders proposed that the People's Committee of Can Tho City support the school to access preferential capital sources, including capital for the second phase of school expansion and other projects.
At the meeting, representatives of universities also requested Can Tho City to order training and fostering for English teachers in high schools; sponsor and assign scientific research tasks; develop preferential policies and support to improve professional qualifications for lecturers, scientists and university education managers in the area. In particular, the City needs to have a mechanism to attract and promote domestic and foreign experts and scientists to work in the locality, especially in the fields of high technology, digital transformation, technological agriculture, health and environment.

With the above recommendations, Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - Truong Canh Tuyen assigned departments and branches to review the land locations of existing schools and schools that are expected to expand, to ensure consistency and compliance with the City's infrastructure planning. Mr. Tuyen also suggested that schools research and survey the surplus headquarters of the People's Committees of the old Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces to receive as training facilities, in accordance with the policy of prioritizing surplus public land after reorganization for education and health.
Regarding the headquarters of Can Tho College (expected to be redundant after school arrangement), Mr. Tuyen requested interested schools to send official documents for the City Standing Committee to consider and decide.
Regarding human resource development and talent attraction, Mr. Tuyen assigned the Department of Education and Training, the Department of Health, and the Department of Finance to develop policies on remuneration, support, and improvement of teachers' qualifications, and attract good experts and scientists. In particular, the departments need to propose policies and mechanisms to promote scientific and technological research and career guidance innovation.
Currently, in Can Tho City, there are 8 schools, branches, and training facilities of universities. Of which, there are 4 public schools and 4 private schools. Every year, the above schools enroll and train nearly 30,000 students.
