"While chasing a crocodile out of its egg-laying cage, the crocodile grabbed his stick, causing him to fall. Others came and attacked him until he died," said Siem Reap police chief Mey Savry. One of the victim's arms was swallowed by the crocodile while his body was covered in lacerations.
In 2019, a 2-year-old girl was eaten by a crocodile when she entered her family's farm in the same village, Mr. Savry said.
Around Siem Reap there are many crocodile farms that raise crocodiles for their skin and meat. The farmers let the crocodiles lay eggs and also sell the young ones.
