Thanks to the dedication, responsibility, and passion for the work of the Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Yen Thinh commune, Nguyen Van Lai (the person on the far right), many roads in Yen Thinh commune have been invested in and built to be spacious and meet the model new rural standards.
Yen Thinh commune has nearly 7,000 people, of which more than 1/3 are Catholics. The people in the commune are mainly engaged in agricultural production and small-scale industry. In recent years, as Chairman of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee, a typical and prestigious individual among Catholics, Mr. Lai has always actively mobilized people to implement directives and resolutions of the Party Committee; comply with the policies and laws of the State; local regulations, "respect God, love the country", "live a good life, and follow the religion". Actively and proactively work with organizations to build and implement regulations on coordination of work; regularly grasp the thoughts and aspirations of all classes of people and parishioners to promptly reflect them to the local Party Committee and authorities.
Identifying production development as a key factor to mobilize resources to complete the advanced NTM criteria, Mr. Lai has mobilized people to shift the structure of crops and livestock, bringing crops and livestock with high productivity, quality and economic value into production. Currently, there is a garment enterprise operating in the commune, bringing a stable income of 7 - 10 million VND/person/month for more than 2,000 local workers; maintaining 5 farm economic models with income from 400 million to over 1 billion VND/year and many other family economic models... contributing to raising the average income per capita to nearly 70 million VND/person/year (an increase of 27 million VND compared to 2020), reducing the poverty rate to 1.1% (the poverty rate among Catholics is only under 1%).
In addition, Mr. Lai is also a pioneer in building a model farm for raising foreign pigs. With an initial investment capital of more than 2 billion VND (in 2014), his family's farm now has nearly 100 foreign sows and over 500 pigs, worth over 6 billion VND, deducting expenses for revenue from 500 million to over 1 billion VND/year, creating regular jobs for 3-5 workers with a stable income of 5-10 million VND/person/month. From the results achieved in developing the farm economy, he has disseminated his experience and breeding techniques to a number of households in the commune.
With economic development, people have actively contributed their efforts and money to build new rural areas. In the period of 2021-2025, people in the village have contributed more than 20 billion VND, thousands of working days, donated over 4,000m2 of land to expand and concretize roads and repair and renovate the commune's cultural and sports center. The above results have contributed to bringing 4/5 villages of the commune to the status of model new rural villages. The commune is continuing to improve the criteria, striving to achieve the status of an advanced new rural commune.
Implementing the campaign "All people unite to build a cultural life", associated with building "Peaceful parish, cultural family", in recent years, Mr. Lai and the Standing Committee of the Commune Fatherland Front Committee have propagated and mobilized people to participate in building cultural residential areas, residential areas that ensure security and order, no crime and social evils. Up to now, 100% of residential areas have been recognized as cultural residential areas, 97% of families have achieved cultural families, 100% of residential areas have no crime.
With his achievements, Mr. Lai has been repeatedly commended, rewarded, and awarded the title of good production and business household, typical advanced model by all levels and sectors.
