President Vo Van Thuong and his wife successfully concluded their state visit to the Republic of Italy and the Vatican.

NDO - This morning, July 29, Vietnam time, President Vo Van Thuong and his wife, along with the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, arrived in Hanoi , successfully concluding their State visit to the Republic of Italy and the Vatican from July 25 to 29.

In Italy, the President held talks with President Sergio Mattarella; met with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and attended the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries; met with the President of the Senate, the President of the House of Representatives, visited the capital Rome and met with the Mayor of Rome.

The President met with the President of the Tuscana Region and attended the signing ceremony of local cooperation; visited the city of Florence (capital of the Tuscana Region) and had a working meeting with the President of the Tuscana Region Eugenio Giani and met with the Mayor of Florence.

President Vo Van Thuong, his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation attended a State Banquet hosted by the Italian President and his daughter; and a concert celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Italy diplomatic relations.

The President also received leaders of several Italian political parties: the Communist Party, the Democratic Party, and the Communist Reestablishment Party.

The President spent time visiting the Embassy and meeting the Vietnamese community in Italy, as well as meeting Italian friends who are close to Vietnam.

In Rome, the President laid a wreath at the Monument to the Fatherland.

Before ending the visit, the Italian President and his daughter presided over a solemn farewell ceremony for President Vo Van Thuong and his wife and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the Presidential Palace.

During his visit to the Vatican, after attending the solemn official welcoming ceremony, the President met with Pope Francis; met with Prime Minister, Cardinal Pietro Parolin; and visited the Sistine Chapel.

In Italy and the Vatican, the President had nearly 30 very effective activities, agreeing with Italian and Vatican leaders on many important cooperation contents to further promote bilateral relations.

At 6:00 p.m. on July 28 (local time), President Vo Van Thuong and his wife led a high-ranking delegation back to Vietnam, successfully concluding a state visit to Italy and a visit to the Vatican.

At around 10:00 a.m. this morning Vietnam time, the President, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of our country arrived at Noi Bai airport, Hanoi, Vietnam.
