On the morning of May 14th, Mr. Do Minh Tuan, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, received Mr. Thomas Gass, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Vietnam, and his delegation who were visiting and working in Thanh Hoa . Also participating were representatives from several provincial departments and agencies, as well as Ba Thuoc district.

On behalf of the Thanh Hoa provincial leadership, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan expressed his pleasure in welcoming Ambassador Thomas Gass and the delegation from the Swiss Embassy in Vietnam to visit and work in Thanh Hoa.
Briefing Mr. Thomas Gass and the delegation on the potential and unique advantages of Thanh Hoa, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan emphasized: Thanh Hoa is a gateway for trade between the Northern and North Central regions; it is the 5th largest province in terms of natural area out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide with over 11,000 km² , and the 3rd largest in population nationwide, after Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanh Hoa has a long-standing and distinctive culture with a glorious historical tradition, being the birthplace and nurturing ground of many kings and rulers of Vietnam. Thanh Hoa also boasts many cultural heritage sites, especially the Ho Dynasty Citadel, a World Cultural Heritage site.
Thanh Hoa is also one of the few localities in the country that possesses all three geographical regions (mountainous, plain, and coastal), with a convenient transportation system including all types of transport, and many important national transportation routes passing through it. This is an extremely favorable condition for socio-economic development. Economic development can thrive in all sectors.

According to Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan, Thanh Hoa province has made strong and comprehensive progress in all fields over the past years. Its economy ranks 8th in the country in terms of size, and its economic growth rate is among the top 5 nationwide.
With its potential, advantages, and achievements, Thanh Hoa is striving to build an environment and destination that attracts domestic and foreign investors.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee expressed his hope that, given his role, position, and prestige, Ambassador Thomas Gass would actively support, introduce, and act as a bridge to connect Swiss investors with Thanh Hoa province to explore investment opportunities in areas where businesses and investors have strengths and where Thanh Hoa province has needs. This would contribute to further strengthening the diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Switzerland, which has been built and established for over 50 years.
Currently, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province has approved the investment plan for the staBOO Thanh Hoa OSB bamboo panel factory project in Thiet Ong commune (Ba Thuoc district). StaBOO Holdings of Switzerland is the investor cooperating in the project with an investment capital of approximately 3,200 billion VND. This is a significant milestone and event that will further promote cooperation between Thanh Hoa and Swiss partners in the future.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan affirmed: Thanh Hoa province will create the most favorable conditions and always stand alongside investors; in the immediate future, in the implementation of the OSB staBOO Thanh Hoa Bamboo Board Manufacturing Plant Project in Thiet Ong commune. This will build trust, promote cooperative relations between Switzerland and Vietnam, and attract Swiss investors to Thanh Hoa.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Switzerland to Vietnam, Thomas Gass, expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm and respectful welcome extended by Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Do Minh Tuan and other leaders of Thanh Hoa province to the delegation. He also expressed his admiration for the achievements the province has made in socio-economic development as well as the hospitality of the people of Thanh Hoa.
The Ambassador stated that Switzerland consistently ranks among the world's top innovation countries. Therefore, cooperation focused on innovation and green, sustainable development is always a priority for Swiss partners.
Ambassador Thomas Gass expressed his confidence that with the active attention and support from Thanh Hoa province, the staBOO Thanh Hoa OSB bamboo panel manufacturing plant project in Thiet Ong commune (Ba Thuoc district) will be successful in all aspects, creating a foundation for long-term cooperation in many other fields.
Ambassador Thomas Gass emphasized that the visit and meeting between the leaders of Switzerland and Vietnam at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Davos 2024 conference in January 2024 will open up many opportunities for cooperation and affirm the increasingly sustainable development of the relationship between the two countries.
In his role and responsibilities, Ambassador Thomas Gass affirmed that he will do his utmost to continue promoting cooperation between Switzerland and Vietnam in general, and Thanh Hoa province in particular.
