Students at Nguyen Mong Tuan High School listen to presentations on online safety.
According to statistics from the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Ministry of Public Security , in Vietnam in 2025 there were more than 1,500 online fraud cases, of which the police force received and handled more than 50 online kidnapping cases with 100% of victims aged 18 to 22, 90% of whom were female.
"Online kidnapping" is a new tactic used by criminals targeting young people, especially students, who lack life skills and are easily manipulated psychologically. Many cases leave serious mental and material consequences for the victims...
The "Not Alone - Together We Are Safe Online" campaign aims to mobilize community strength and work together to protect children and young people in cyberspace. It also sends a strong message: No one will be left behind in the journey to building a safe and humane online environment. Every student needs to be proactive and vigilant, but also needs to know how to share when problems arise, not silently endure or fear alone.
In response to the "Not Alone - Staying Safe Online Together" campaign, Thanh Hoa Polytechnic College organized a digital shock campaign, specifically in collaboration with the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Provincial Police to organize the "Not Alone - Staying Safe Online Together" program. This program aimed to raise awareness about the methods and tactics of various cybercriminals, such as "online kidnapping," impersonating government officials, stealing social media accounts, impersonating relatives to borrow money, and luring people into online investments. Simultaneously, it provided guidance on identifying, handling situations, and protecting personal data when participating in the online environment to over 1,000 students from schools in the province, including Hong Duc University, Thanh Hoa Medical College, Lam Son High School for the Gifted, and To Hien Thanh High School.
Vu Truong Luc, Head of Admissions at Thanh Hoa Polytechnic College, shared: “The digital campaign, implemented from November 2025, consists of three main initiatives deployed by the school: Digital Citizenship, Digital Defense, and AI Applications, aiming to bring digital capabilities to schools, wards, communes, and individual households. Through training and certification activities, and community support, the digital campaign contributes to helping Thanh Hoa citizens enhance their understanding of online fraud and kidnapping risks, and learn to use the latest AI tools to improve learning efficiency and creativity.”
At Nguyen Mong Tuan High School, content regarding civilized and mindful behavior when using the internet and social media is included in the school's regulations and all teachers and students are required to strictly adhere to it.
Mr. Luong Ba Tinh, the school's Vice Principal, shared: "The content on ensuring online safety has been disseminated to all 1,450 students through experiential activities, career guidance, class activities led by homeroom teachers, and flag-raising ceremonies... In addition, the school also cooperates with the police force to organize awareness campaigns for students to identify, be vigilant against, and protect themselves from online scams, manipulation, fraud, and human trafficking, helping them raise awareness and take action to protect themselves, while also spreading warnings about online fraud to those around them."
Thi Ngoc Thao, a student in class 11A8, said: “After being informed and educated about ensuring safety on the internet, I have realized that I must be cautious when sharing personal information online, not sharing unverified information or violent content; and not readily believing threatening messages or calls that request personal information. When I see unusual signs or feel threatened, I must boldly share it with my teachers, family, or report it to the authorities for protection and assistance.”
In conjunction with the campaign "Not Alone - Staying Safe Online Together," the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police have collaborated with schools to organize numerous activities demonstrating social responsibility and spreading the humane message "Staying Safe Online Together," contributing to building a safe and positive online environment where every student is loved, respected, and can develop comprehensively.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Xuan Toan, Deputy Head of the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police, affirmed: “The campaign “Not Alone - Together We Are Safe Online” is being implemented to equip young people with digital skills, strengthen the link between schools, families, and the police force to build a safe online environment. Each student is a digital shield; being vigilant and proactive in protecting themselves is also protecting the community.”
